Ativan vs. Hydroxyzine

I have a genuine panic disorder, diagnosed when I was about 15. I have taken Ativan off and on since then, nothing much longer than a month or so, and I never got addicted to it. I used it completely as needed, only if I felt a panic attack coming on. Ever since I quit taking the Norcos I feel the same type of panicky that I felt back then. Not sure if there is anyone that can relate that has a genuine panic disorder, but if you do, you'll know what I mean. I don't think it is a result of no more Norco however, I feel that it is because I just started Zoloft hoping that would help the withdrawal anxiety, but it created more anxiety plus full blown panic attacks, and I read that it can do this while it is entering your body (for about a month or so). I have hydroxyzine for panic attacks now as my doctor didn't want to prescribe me the Ativan anymore because it was making me really tired every time i took it. Question is, is there anyone that can tell me if hydroxyzine even works for you? It really doesn't do anything for me, but I am afraid to ask my doctor for my 10 Ativan back a month, yes only 10, and sometimes I didn't even need that much. And i feel stupid for being afraid to talk to my doctor (although I really don't like him. my primary care doctor recently moved to England so a new one took his place and right away changed the whole regimen I was on with the previous doctor).
