Best Withdrawal meds

Clonidine: a blood-pressure medicine.  Takes the edge off of every symptom.  Makes you groggy and sleepy.
Valium: Takes the anxiety away.  Long half life, so use short term and back off.
Robaxin: A skeletal/muscle relaxant that gets rid of that deep bone ache and RLS.
Aleve: SURPRISE remedy for that awful deep bone ache of opiate craving.  Works!
Nutrition: Ensure.  You won't feel like eating, so this will give you the protein needed.
Immodium A/D:  No substitute.  Loperamide HCI is an opiate dirivative, will not cross the blood barrier, but now you know why opiates make you constipated.  Use Immodium as much as needed.

I thought I was just getting through the wds.. On night number 3 I found that soon after I took 2 robaxins my rls went away!! I dont know why I never put 2 and 2 together.. I gotta 100 of those things and didnt think about them after. Needless to say I went through at least another 3-4 days of terrible w/d....."jeesh"
Thanks for reminding about the robaxin. Hopefully I wont need to use it again soon!;-)

I recommend clonidine all the time too..I hope you didn't think I was swatting your hand for suggesting it. I just worry about people finding this stuff in Grandpa's medicine cabinet and going to town with it. It works great, but your BP needs to be baselined and a dosage recommended. Great suggestions narc-vet.

Yes, Ga Guy is correct.  I did not mean to treat clonidine casually.  I do not have blood pressure issues, so I was able to use it beyond normal treatment plans.

Clonidine dosages are usually .1mg 2-3 times daily. This med can be dangerous if you take too much. So, get this from a doctor and take as directed. Clonidine is not a medicine you need to "self medicate" with.

Hi Junesunflower

Clonidine I use primarily for the wonderful knock out effect it has.  Your blood pressure will sky rocket during w/d which makes for all that anxious, sweaty, I-can't-take-this feeling.  One will help ease the symptoms, two will knock you out, three and you won't remember anything for 6 hours.  Just remember to follow the duration between dosages.  Says right on the script.

Valium is the best, because it seems with short term use, you don't have to worry about any addictive after effects.  Xanax works great, Klonopin, sure, Ativan, but these I found had significant rebound effects after only a short time.  We don't need that  right now.  But any of these are important and useful during the first week.

Robaxin is used every 6 hours.  Again, follow the instructions, but you can take up to two at a time.

REMEMBER:  You will know when to stop taking these type of  meds.  They are not fun drugs, so you will gladly put them down when you are through the worst.  Then the REAL fight begins - sobriety!.

what dosage and for how long do you have to take the clonidine and robaxin?  Do you think valium is better than xanax?...I know they are both benzos and caution needs to be taken with either.   Thanks for any help.

I am an experianced opiate addict with MANY, MANY days of dope sickness.  I go to a doctor and tell them I will be off of pain meds, explain the need.  I usually get all I need.

Again, you can NEVER really truly be comfortable until enough time passes.  Stay away from all narcotics in the interim.

My two cents...
