Fast pulse is no indicator of high blood pressure as the others have stated.
When I quit vikes my heart was also racing but blood pressure was 115/75.
Doc put me on Toprol XL to help.
Good Luck
glad you got a kick out of my saying that you shouldn't take a b.p. medication that was not prescribed for you. This is not the same as taking a pain pill. If you want to mess with your cardiovascular system, that's your choice. As a physician, I'm telling you its not an intelligent thing to do.
so true...fast pulse is no indicator of high blood pressure...
You cannot tell by your pulse if your blood pressure is high or not.
you need to go to the doctor, do not take your spouses meds, the dose is tailored to her, go to the docs and ask for some clonidine...works great for withdrawals...alot of people here have taken it...
I just went through the very same thing last night-actually thought i was going to end up in the ER. (I have high blood pressure already). Anyway, went to doctor today who wouldn't prescribe the clonidine-and then resorted to doctor that I go to for anxiety(PRN) and he did give me a script. The medical doctor said it sounded like a "panic attack"-or that it could be withdrawals from oxycodone. Didn't offer a thing. I have tapered quickly from 30-40mg of oxycodone a day-to 5mgs a day. I am hoping this medicine works as it was scary for me. Just wanted to let you know someone else felt the same way!!! Definitely go see a doctor-just to be sure!!!
There may be someone on here thats a nurse, but there also recovering addicts so no one to give prefesional help, sorry...Can you go to you're dr. and get them?
Well interesting... Clonodine and this DIOVAN are both HYPOTENSIVE Agents.?? Hmmmm.... Are there any nurses on this board???
OMG I looked it up on RXLIST.COM and it comes up with all this pharmacology about heart valve changes. NOPE don't think I'm taking that one. I guess I will just tough it out and sit down and relax. Thanks anyways guys. NO, No valium or I would have already taken it.
I took clonidine maybe you could call a pharmacy and see how those 2 meds compare to eachother. For most addicts they prescribe .1mg 3times a day
Tuff question. Never heard of either of them and don't want you to drop dead. You don't have anything else? valuim etc... I know we are not suppose to recomment that. I guess I wouldn't risk it. Can you see a doctor or even go to the ER. I hear they will help people in withdrawl. Sorry I'm not much help. Hang in there. Others will be coming on soon.
