CAN SOMEONE ANSWER THIS?

Day 3 for me...... I was tapering for the last 2 months.  Would take 1/2 percocet each day, then 2 days none, but by the third day, needed to take that 1/2.  Well, I'm out so it is now truly DAY 3.  I feel dehydrated but have been drinking water like crazy.  My stomach is so achy and I feel nauseated.  I took 3 immodium AD this a.m. and that helped tremendously.  I have no choice but to go to work tomorrow and I have a very, very early meeting.  Am I going to make it?  I have an ALL DAY offsite meeting on Wednesday (2 days from now) and I am praying that this will subside?  ANY THOUGHTS????

I wrote a way too long post on "sober and not waiting to exhale" about Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS) that you might want to look out.  It explains why we can feel really awful, physically and mentally, for months after we've stopped drinking/using, but that it is time limited.  Knowing that what you're going through is "normal" -- including mental fog and sleep problems -- but that it would go away, helped me tremendously the year following my stay in rehab. Just a suggestion; I'm being way too long winded in my posts.

Exercise helped me more than anything...it helped with anxiety and depression...the treadmill can be a life saver!...supps are important as well but there is only a certain amount that u can take and ur body will be able to use as any extra will be excreted...except the fat solubles like A,D,E and K/the body can retain there so there is such thing as "too much"...the amino acids recommended can help alot with energy...99% of this is upstairs for most people and u can make ur meetings if u believe u can...and u can...once u get there at the meetings and get busy, all the nervousness will go away and u will be fine...i had to return to work quickly and i made it at a very stressful job...it is upstairs...believe in urself and u will make it...hang in there

Thanks to all of you!  I'm feeling a little better.  Going to jump on the treadmill.  Have done that since Friday!  Good feeling and helps you sleep.  I have been on the Immodium AD and liquid Calcium, Potassium and Zinc that I got from the health food store.  Works wonders (no cramping).  And YES, how free it will be to not count the pills, stretch them out to last, and panic if I am running low, yes really panic.

I just hate the feeling today, although I think many of others have/had it worse, which really scares me about tomorrow.  We shall see....  Long day at work tomorrow but I can do it.

Thanks again for all your help and I will keep posting.  Makes me feel soooo much better when I see that someone responded.  You guys are great and thanks so much!

And this too shall pass...............  Which will bring in tomorrow (DAY 4)!!!!  YEAH!

I also recommend lots of warm baths with fragrant bath salts. If you can, buy some especially for the next few days, and treat yourself to relaxing bubble baths while thinking positive thoughts. You're going to be so glad when you NEVER have to worry about where your next supply is coming from, and how you're going to get it.  You will have hours of free time, even if it is just free mental time, each day, free of the need to dwell on (or scheme about) anything negative, such as replenishing your supply, or worrying about what "detox" is going to be like.  Within a few days the physical pain will be over, and that will be that.  If you are still in mental pain, go to an AA or NA meeting and talk to others who know exactly what you are going through.  You can do it -- I did and that means anyone can - promise.....

That's so great, you sound really really good!

Have you looked at the Thomas Detox? It can help alot. Sublingual B-12 talets (cause they disolve under your tongue can be a huge lifesaver. That is what helped me when I went back to work and had to deal and see people.  I'm also discovering the powers of Imodium AD tablets to calm the stomach and intestines. It works in minutes and also calms down the w/d symptoms. It's not just for bowel. It's good and it works. w/d symptoms leave. It's great.

So many nice things you can get at a vitamin shop as well. Aminos and vitamins. Mineral baths really help. Take a look on the left hand bottom of the page and look at the suppliments there. They will get you up and running again. It's also very pro-active which makes you feel less scared and more pre-pared!

We'll all be here for you!

So glad you're done with it!

Emily :)

Thanks soooo much for your post.  I really appreciate it.  I never got up to more than 2 1/2 perks a day but I have taken at least 1/2 every day for a couple of years so I KNEW it was time to taper, so I did (not easy, let me tell you).  I had 1 1/2 left so I took them on Friday for no reason at all except to be done with it!  And that I am.  This website is so awesome.

Thanks again.  I just hope that tomorrow I will feel good enough to go to work.  I worked from home today so I didn't have to see anyone.  While tapering I also realized that my mind was thinking much clearer (such a good feeling).

Anyway, thanks again.  I just keep thinking that if I just had a 1/2 I would feel good tonight, but there goes that "vicious cycle".  Thanks again.

I think it is ok to be very scared when you come off and are in w/d's. You're also tryng to do it while working, which cuases anxiety. But that is so normal for what your body and mind have been thru.

You did great with your taper, you did great making it thru! Well done.

I agree with you, you might as well be done with it.

It's a better life, even in the middle of withdrarwal it's a better life. And after all, you are taking charge right? Yes! Good!!!

Love and healing,
Emily

Thank you sooo much!  I guess I never let myself get to Day 3.......  But here I am.  I am sooooo scared tomorrow is going to be bad!  I'm feeling a little light-headed also but maybe that's just stress.....  ha.  Who wouldn't be stressing.  I can call my doc for another Rx but that will take about 2 days by the time he gets it written, I pick it up, and then go and get it filled, I might as well be done with it!

Thanks so much.  Just very scared here!

Since you tapered so low (which is great) and you were going 2 days at a time without pills, you may be uncomfortable but you should be fine.  The symptoms you described will not get worse, they will only get better. By Wednesday (maybe thurs.) you should start to feel much better.  Keep drinking fluids, and take the immodium as needed.  Also, try to eat some healthy foods and maybe some vitamins.  What you're feeling right now is the worst it will get, so think positive and get some good nutrients/vitamins into your system!  Good luck and keep posting!
