Sorry for the two typos. Typing on an iPhone without my glasses. Sort of like taking the skittles for wd's. Just doesn't work. Ha. Anyway, had to mention the typos...my OCD wouldn't let it go. Once again, good luck, you can do it.
Just FYI.... I'm not trying to scare you or discourage you, I'm just going to be honest with you. I began a ling time ago taking vicodin, and after finding a pain management Dr. He switched me to oxy. Just about the amount you're taking
in the beginning, although I took oxycodone/roxi 4xday, instead of percocet as you are. However, they are the same thing basically, only percs have Tylenol added, oxy's don't. My point.... I ran out early one month and thought, noooo problem, I'll just get some hydrocodone and I'll be fine WELL, I might as well have saved my money and eaten a bag of skittles. I found out very quickly that once you move from hydrocodone to the big dog,,,,oxy,,,, the vics just aren't ever the sane. Didn't help one bit with the wd's. It was like I had taken nothing at all. Chances are, you'll find the same thing will happen. Sooooo, might I suggest you either taper down some first and then jump off, or just go ahead and jump, because it'll feel like you did anyway, so no need to even take the vics. Just get everything in place and get prepared ahead of time to make it easier on yourself. You can do it!! As they say, it's much like having the flu, albeit the "swine flu," but the flu nonetheless. Good luck and keep posting. If nothing else, it will fill some empty hours and keep your mind off the detox.
Using another narcotic to get off a narcotic only prolongs the process. Check out the Thomas Recipe that GTMI gave you They also have the amino acid protocol listed too. We need to replenish our body with healthy supplements..........sara
Using Vicodin as a means to taper can work but jumping off after only one week will still be like going cold turkey. The Thomas recipe may help

But be sure to continually decide to never use again. Much of the battle is mental.
I have done that. Replaced one drug for another in an attempt to make the Withdrawals easier, but in the end it all was the same thing.
I still had to detox off the other, and no detox is comfortable. Try to keep in mind that it's not going to last forever, although I know that's not much comfort.
I've read some people speak about the "Thomas Recipe" but I've never tried that.
Dr. Supervision is really the best way, or tapering.
I wish you all the best.
