Canker Soars for 5 weeks, Killing me! What to do?

I am on a Taper off quite a few very addictive medications.  I choose to start with the Narcotics and I am about half way tapered off but have a month or so to go.  Also having to slow down due to an ER visit because my taper was too fast!
Anyway, all and all I have this ?  My tounge and mouth are covered with Canker soars.  They are not going away jut multiplying.  Every morning I have 2-10 more.  I bite them all night and can't seem to find a cure.

Anyone have advice?????

I have to get this better ASAP

I think you will find relief with the benadryl and malox.  If you can't get the rx with lidocaine, you may want to add in a dose of orajel (or other numbing gel for treatment of teething and/or canker sores). Should really help.

Lysine works wonders for cold sores. If you are susceptible to them simply take one every day. Lysine is an over the counter vitamin.

I'm tapering so I will more than likely have these darn soars for the entire process.  I am tapering with help from my doctor and dependent on my surgery to take care of my pain.  I'm more what I like to call a "Pain relief Addict"  More addicted to the pain relief than the up's from the drug that I haven't had in 5 years.  My stress levels are off the chart which more than likely bought on the soars.  Thank you guys for all the advice.  Think I will try the benadryl and Malox.

Not common at all with detox.  This is the first I've heard of it and is likely not related--don't let that scare you!

Congrats on your decision, when are you jumping?

I know a lot of people whho had mouth sores from chemo and/or radiation that had a lot of luck with Manuka honey.   I think most ordered it online.  (Honey in general seems to be making a resurgence with it being used in  skin care, helping sore throats, etc.  Google it.  It might help.

hi there,

go call you physician or dentist and ask for a prescription of benadryl, maalox, and lidocaine.  It is commonly known as the "magic mouthwash" and I used to prescribe it all the time for patients going through chemo or had systemic diseases that created chronic apthous ulcers (aka canker sores.)  If for some reason you can't get to the dr., use the combination of equal parts liquid benadryl and maalox (or mylanta) gargle and swish for 60 seconds then spit..  The lidocaine helps greatly (numbing) but in a pinch the other two are soothing and you will find some relief.

good luck

Hi-  nothing cures these things!  Look for a mouthwash/spray containing Benzydamine hydrochloride. Most everything is a prescription and doesn't always help. Ask your pharmacist if he'll give you some viscous lidocaine to swish around. He may have other suggestions of new stuff I don't know about
...
stick with bland foods and liquids; drink through a straw. I feel badly for you...
