Yes get them from your doc.  I've done two c/t detoxes and the second one I used clonidine.  Even though my opiate usage was double the strength and length than the first detox, my second detox was way easier and I attribute this to the clonidine.  I didn't even vomit.  I took it quite often and I monitored my BP at home because I naturally have low blood pressure.  I took it for 2-3 weeks, I can't remember.  I'll take it again when I taper after detox.
Chevy is right though-
gotta change that addict behaviour.
Get it from your doc, not from a friend.  3 won't do anything anyhow (:
Hope you are resting easy...

Hi cjord....

I am so new to this forum,  I almost hesitate to throw my two cents in on this subject.  Everything said above, I agree with.   Clonodine is a helpful medication while going thru detox.  I found it very effective.

Just want u to at least think about behavioral changes, like taking meds from ur friends, self medicating, etc.  That is what got most of us here in the first place.   Just rooting for your long term recovery, not just the detox.  Taking 1 or 2 non addictive bp meds I'm sure is fine, but personally, I would hope u would get any and all meds in the future from a Dr u trust.  I'm pretty new to this aftercare process,  but that is one the first things I learned about me....that I often self medicated outside a Dr's care.
Pulling for your complete recovery 100%.

Actually, a spike in blood pressure is a very common symptom of WD.  Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase.  The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.

It is OK, BUT YOU should talk to the DR because we do not know your Health Issues. This med should be under a DRs care so they can also check your BP.

So it's safe and won't slow my heart rate down dangerously then?

If you are at the start of your w/ds then I would talk to the DR about getting a few prescribed during your detox..They work for Anxiety & help with Sleep. I got mine finally prescribed after I went 22 days of High Anxiety & No Sleep coming off of 3 meds at once back in 2012. I could only take it at Night!!!!
Now almost 2 years later I had some Heart Procedures and have learned alot about these BP Meds.
This one is very light one and it helps to keep the HEART from Pumping real hard during detox. In the long run this will CALM everything down and will help with sleep.
Meanwhile make sure you Drink LOTS of fluids.
Eat VERY Healthy and stay away from caffeine and some sugars at first.
Take some Good mulit Vit/Min..Some vit/min you can take at night to help relax the muscles and such and some during the day for Energy..Do some homework and find which one you take for what. There are tons of natural ways to detox with out meds, but I would highly recommend the BP med right now. Just know that the physical detox will be over soon..It is dealing with the mental and staying clean that takes the cake..Just take it day by day and get that Support.
Bless

It helps to relax the body while in withdrawals, so you dont feel the full force of withdrawals : )
Its non addictive, but if you take too much, you can get dizzy and have irregular heart beat.
Its only recommended to stay on it the first 10-14 days while your going through your detox.

Hey, i used it in sub detox and it was fantastic !!
Unfortunantly, 3 isnt going to get you through a detox.
You would be better getting a script from your doctor who can tell you how much to take, and how often.
Yes, its a blood pressure tablet, that doctors found to help drug withdrawals imensley.
Good luck with your detox : )
