Codiene is an opiate ?????right

I just want to double check. I have always thought codiene was an opiate. Is It?

Yes making Pod tea is considered opiates. It is legal to posses the pods themselves but its illegal if the pods are crushed or chopped that is then called poppy straw which is illegal to possess. The entire poppy including the dried pods are loaded with opiates like morhine, codeine and derivitives.

Thats funny to hear all those listed. I am right here at the border and I have a friend that cooks up some tea from the opium poppys out of the chihuahuan desert and have asked me to come along for a session. Alot of people over there in Mexico use these as a way to get closer to their GODS. I'm glad I never went. Does this qualify as OPIATES?

What are opiates?
Opiates, sometimes referred to as narcotics, are a group of drugs which are used medically to relieve pain, but also have a high potential for abuse. Some opiates come from a resin taken from the seed pod of the Asian poppy. This group of drugs includes opium, morphine, heroin, and codeine.
