Thank you for your advice! I am weaning off the coffee by making it weaker every morning. It's about like tan water now (like something else had been, recently...). Minor headache, must admit to taking 2 ibuprofen-200's to counteract. Thanks again and every good wish to you! Mike
Hi BonnieAnn,
I'm sorry to be communicating w/you in 2 posts/forums; I don't understand (yet) exactly how this site works. I hope this response to just you means that you and I will now 'talk' in this forum only! MANY thanks for your advice and encouragement. As I just posted, I do not have a relationship w/my doc, as I haven't even seen her yet (she's new). I don't want my 1st appt to be "Hi, I'm Mike, and I'm in the 10th day of recovery from lots and lotsa Vicodin I obtained...not in the usual manner, let's just say." I just had a complete physical 8 wks ago including complete blood work. Everything normal, thank our Creator! However, because of an awful but time-limited situation at work, I do plan to ask my new doc for a small amount of Xanax (which I have taken in the past without abusing it at all -- it doesn't make me 'high,' just stops the racing heart and thoughts. Thanks again, and please, if you will, keep me in your thoughts as I attempt a full day's work today, while still feeling put through the wringer (but a little better -- maybe 3 to 5 percent -- every day). Mike

Caffeine withdrawal gives one headaches. Many times headaches become chronic due to pain meds, even tylenol or ibuprofen--it's called rebound headaches. The only way to see if pain is real or caused by the withdrawal symptoms is to go without for months, I think. My back and neck pain that was called fibromyalgia has definately gotten better without drugs, still there but I am so happy not to be addicted that I'll take the pain.
Hello Again. OK, you just my other questions to you from before.
Coffee is quite addicting. Weaning back on that could not hurt for sure. But you hit it right on the head.
YES, I do suggest that you go and get a full check-up and blood work. If you have a good relationship with your doc, then get honest. There are medications he can suggest that could help you thru this tough period.
We are talking in two posts..lol. Why don't you pick one and we'll keep that one. Just post in one. I know it will help me, and I am sure others.
See you in a few.
Bonnie
