Couple Methadone questions

Hey all. New to the forum. So, as we say in "the South" (if you can call South Florida "the South"), a friendly "hey" to everyone here!

Question about Methadone: How long do w/d last when going "cold turkey"?  I have it on very good authority that Roxicodone w/d lasts, in its acute phase, between 3-5 days with days 2 and 3 being the worst of it. So well-known is the Roxi/Oxy/Hydro w/d timeline that one member here referred to day 3 as "the dreaded day 3!" But no one ever talks about methadone that way.  Everyone says Methadone is a MUCH longer time frame. So, does anyone have a more precise idea how much longer?

The PDR (Physicians Desk Reference) specifically identifies Methadone as appropriate for opiate detoxification if it is rapidly tapered. However, the PDR cautions that if Methadone is used for longer than 21 days, the treatment is considered "mainenence" as opposed to detoxification.  Anyone know how long it takes to become dependant on Methadone? Clearly, the patient does not go from non-dependent to dependent at midnight on day 20. Is it possible to become dependent in 10 days?

Thanks for reading. Good luck to everyone...you're here and that is a start

wow, thats a good description........"cotton candy" in the head !! the ole vision was giving out on me at close range. not to mention how messed up my bowels were, that took a long time.

when I first was going through the 'done wd's I was wondering if it was just me, I soon discovered why. but given I was mixing it with norcos and beer, who knows .....

I am glad all that junk is out of my life now !!

I am with whitie on this timeline.......2-4 weeks of pretty bad withdrawals.......followed by months of having cotton candy in my head instead of brains......  and thinking that I would never have the energy required to get off the sofa - or anything else for that matter.  I would personally withdraw from 20-30 hydro's daily (one of my other vices..) every other week than go through methadone withdrawal even once more.......  That said I am extremely happy that I did it - - That I am not a slave to any narcotic handcuff today.......  and I enjoy each and every new sober day in a manner that I wasnt able to while in a narcotic fog!!

well a friendly hello back to you !

first of all, the longer you take them, and the more you take them.......the longer the wd's. holds true with all opiates and opioids.

replacement narcotic opioids like 'done and sub are known for longer wd's, IF taken over long periods of time. my personal situation was bad because of 5 years of use, then mixing 'done in, not to mention other things.....yeah, Iknow, how stupid !!

the worse part is the first 2-4 weeks depending on usage. then the long drawn out fatigue and other issues can take up too several months, for some.  I have a few journals I made about wd's, from my experiences...
