Crack addicted newborn
My daughter recently gave birth to a premature crack addicted baby. The baby was in the hospital for 8 weeks. She is home now and cries a lot with piercing sceaming..Her body is always shaking and jerking. She is very restless and seem afraid. she is 4 months old and do not babble.She makes squaking noise like a squirrel. How do I help her.
My girlfriend gave me her baby last week. She used crack most of her pregnancy. i think she has been using crack around him since he has been born. When she gave him too me he reeked of weed. This beautiful baby boy is almost 6 mos, he barely sleeps and just cant be consoled. A routine is out of the question. I hold him all the time trying to connect to him. Im going to keep on doing that. I pray alot too..ive been reading a lot about "crack babies" and there is hope...what we would consider spoiling, is what we have to do with these babies. Hold them all the time and cater to them. It takes dedication, but these children will thrive in the long run and be just as productive and happy as a non addicted baby! <3
I couldn't have waited either...but the Grandmother just wasn't told. Like Gizzy said,these babies need sooo much. You have to soothe them constantly. Breaks my heart...

Any news on the lil one? I really hope everything is ok with her! Is she living with you and not with your daughter? I really hope and pray for the babies sake that she is with someone who can give her what she needs!
How sad and horrible for her Mom to do this. I won't comment what I really think this time cause it won't be nice at all, but glad your taking care of the baby and hope it recovers. Oh my that breaks my heart! I am so sorry that you are having to see your Grandchild like this and not knowing what to do to help. Call the Ped right away and see what they recommend. Every state has an early intervention program to help babies that are not meeting their milestones like other children their age. It is from birth to 3 years of age.I would look into that as well. But first things first you need to get that poor lil innocent baby the best help you can find!!!! I would have already taken the baby to the ER or somewhere cause it is not normal for an infant to jerk and shake. Please keep me posted as to what you find out about your Grandchild.
