subutex is a medication for coming off of opiates and it works great. I was on it and I was switched to Suboxone after few months of taking subutex. I am on 4mg/day and I am doing great. These are opiate blockers and actually are opiates themselves. I'd rather be on this rather than just cut down on this and then have cravings for street opiates. I had relapsed few times in the past just because I stopped taking subutex and in 2 weeks later I was doing my substance of choice again. I am so scared from relapsing, but everyone has different ideas about this. Honestly, I know if I don't take my 4mg/day suboxone, I'll get all kinds of crazy thoughts. I don't exactly know how much willpower your boyfriend has, but for now, I believe he is very safe with Subutex.

he should be using the subutx for coming off of opiates like oxycontin, heroin, dilaudid, or even lots of vicodins or percocets. it wont effect his brain that much he may be more sleepy but he shouldnt really be effected at all or at least noticeable if hes taking it properly. it doesnt get you really high it just makes you feel normal and keeps the withdrawals and cravings at bay. if he is taking it as a street drug then you ahve a problem he neesd to get help then cuz taht stuff can be ahell to come off of, it would be two long months of withdrawals as opposed to normal opiates 1to2 weeks of hell.let me know what hes taking and for what?-christos

How much is he taking and why is he taking it?  There is lots of help here by please share more.  What was his drug of choice (DOC) and how much was he taking.  Subutex is one very serious opiate with serious consequences.  It is very addictive and extremely hard to let go of.  Please keep posting and share more.  All the best.
