You need to hydrate, even if you have to force it. VERY important.
For your RLS, try this: CAL/MAG/ZINC supplement, 4 in the morning, 4 at night. Should work after 48 hours. Kava tea for the anxiety. Sleep will be difficult for a while. You will be very tired. STAY ACTIVE. Force mild exercise if you can. Do little things around your house, set tiny little goals and you will feel good about reaching them. 2 or 3 more days and things will get better.
HANG TOUGH.

Congrats! You have begun the race. Is this your first time? If so, there is so much you can do - the first thing is to allow your body to heal itself. Part of this involves some very yucky and uncomfortable detox symptoms, but "fear is the big mind-killer" (I am quoting from the movie DUNE) and I believe in these cases this quote is very apt: "let your fear wash over and through you."

I've detoxed once before, and I was so darn scared, but it was not near as bad as my fear. It was not fun, but what is 4-5 really bad days, then a week or two in exchange for having control of your life back, instead of drugs controlling you?

Are you working? If you can manage to take 3-4 days off you should be okay. You will have tummy troubles...definitely running to the bathroom alot, and probably a lot of restlessness and insomnia. And you will feel so out-of-sorts. The chemicals (i.e. DOPE) we put in screws everything up. It takes time to get better.

Gatorade and Immodium may become good friends. Check out the Thomas Recipe at the bottom of the page. You CAN do this, and if you are a garden variety addict, like I now know I am, do not neglect aftercare whether it be counseling or N/A or whatever. Guarding my sobriety the first time I came clean was something I ignored, and you just can't. The initial victory is something that is indeed to be celebrated...allow yourself to do that, but don't rest on your laurels. There may be an even bigger battle to stay clean.

Best of luck, and all my prayers.

Hi and congratulations for quitting :) Are you taking any supplements? I know it is hard to think of getting anything down, but at least some Gatorade, Vitamin Water, or Powerade will help replenish what comes out, which leads to Immodium. A good zinc/magnesium supplement, multivitamins and B Complex. Highlands Restless Legs and bananas or a potassium supplement. Try foods that are very light on the tummy such as soup and crackers, broth, toast, rice, and fruit. It will be like you're having a bad bug for a few days, so just tell yourself you have no choice but to suffer through it and treat the symptoms. Daytime and Nighttime TheraFlu with honey added helped me with the aches and pains. Just be careful about mixing different types of OTC medicines because they could interact with each other.

Keep posting and we'll help you through it any way we can.
