Day 9 encouragement

Hey everyone! I am posting this to give hope to all of you who are struggling and in pain from your first few days of w/d's. I am on my ninth day  without norco's and the path here has been long and painful but I'm here and I have a smile on my face! The first few days are awful and there's no getting around that but just know that it gets soooooo much better. I think alot of the w/d symptoms have to do with your mindset. If you are negative and full of dread than everything will be worse. Just take it a day at a time there is no point worrying about the past because it's over and gone what's done is done there's no use beating yourself up about it. And when it comes to dwelling on the future and worrying about when you'll start to feel normal again that's not helpful either. It's important to stay in the moment and really feel your way through this. Having a strong memory of your w/ds and how horrible it made you feel can be huge when you ever get cravings or feel like giving in to temptation. So just live each day in itself and don't look back. You have to think this exact thing whenever you doubt or are filled with dread " WITH EVERY BREATH YOU BREATHE and EVERY SECOND MINUTE and HOUR THAT PASSES YOU ARE GETTING BETTER than YOU WERE from YOUR LAST BREATH and how you felt a SECOND MINUTE or an HOUR AGO." The days and weeks will fly by! I promise that. One thing that has really helped me through this process is that I am constantly writing and keeping track of the process that recovery is. The way I see it is all of us have a tendency to shut out the memories and feelings that hurt us the most we push it deep inside because it was so painful. This in a way enables you to forget what you went through and you can never do that! Detox and w/ds are part of recovery and can be a vital part in never relapsing but only if you allow yourself to be honest and open with what you went through. These are just some ideas and things that have really helped through this entire process. People talk alot about there being physical w/ds and than mental w/ds but If you prepare mentally from day one during the physical you will be setting up for success. The simple fact that you are finding a solution to your problem speaks volumes and shows that you are a courageous person with a bright future ahead. Keep your head up you can do this!

Hey Tim congrats on your hard work. I remember when I was going through the detox process that someone had told me that the worst of it usually happens between the 48-60 hour mark so you are right there man! Simply having that 60 hour mark which is an attainable goal made the mind body process that much easier. Maybe it was all in my head because I was trying to be possitive and proactive but the 60 hour mark I did feel alot better. I listened to music and went for walks and got my heart pumping and started a whole new routine. So this is something to think about man YOU ARE RIGHT THERE! I'm really proud of you.

Thanks for the post. Congrats on 9 days! I am on day 21/2 of Norco w/ds. I hadn't found this website yet when I asked my brother how long he thought this would last, and he said will end sooner with the right mental outlook. I didn't agree with him at first, but after reading your post I realize that my mental outlook can make this so much easier. You have given me lots to think about and work on. Thanks, again.

Tim

I also wanted to add something that has helped me through the days. "Life is too short to live in your regrets". Each new day is a new opportunity.

I can barely type and I wanted to read what you said but I can't concentrate.  I've slowly been taking myself off a lot of med.s including Norco.  It in fact is the last one to go.  Had my last 1/4 10/325 yesterday a.m.  Can you talk to me in brief sentences?

Thank you for this post.  I really needed it this morning, as I am only on day 2 and feel like my whole world is crashing down on me.  I want to be free of these drugs more than anything in this world, and will keep on battling...Your post has really encouraged me.  Congratulations, and thank you again, for wanting to help others in this position.  I can't wait to be where you are right now.  You are an inspiration, my friend.

Great post! Congrats on 9 days! Keep moving forward and never look back. Like you said, the pain of withdrawals is so worth it. It's a fight we can all win if we want it bad enough. The fight is worth every second of it. You are proof of that. Look how much better you are feeling. As each day passes it will get better and better. I'm sure there will still be some bad days but we have to remember that everyone has their bad days. We are just use to having that crutch to lean on. We can all toss that crutch and realize that even with all the good days, we will run across some bad and have to know that tomorrow will be a better day.
Again, congrats on 9 days and soon to be 10!
Best of luck!
Brian
