Day 90 Update off of Methadone

Just wanted to do a update, Today makes 90 Days, life is great, no complaints here. Anyone wishing to kick this evil monkey of their back , just know you can do it. Start a taper, set goals for yourself, and NEVER give up, Its a battle for your LIFE back . I never felt better then i do today , 8 years i was a slave to the fears of wds, I came here and read all the stories of others making it , and with all the support i can say that im clean and sober.
Just remember Rome wasnt built in a day. I hope everyone is having a blessed day.

God Speed.

I just want to say thanks for sharing your words. I've been on methadone for about 5 years now and I don't know how it's gotten to this point, but I hate it. Like you said, I live in absolute fear of WD, constantly worried that something might happen to separate me from my meds. I constantly feel terrible from being constipated for 5 years so I take a mild laxative now which I am now also addicted to.

Honestly I feel like my life is pretty much over, no relationship, no family, no friends, there is just work to support my methadone habit, come home, eat, sleep, repeat. Iv'e recently come to find Jesus Christ and I want to turn my life around. I'm so tired and literally sick of this life, it's killing me and I know it, it haunts me every single day, but I am too afraid to quit. I absolutely hate what has become of me and my life, that I have let myself get to this point, that I have actually become a slave to this drug... It's like a bad dream that I can't awake from...

Anyways, I was simply browsing around for something else and your post came up and I immediately thought wow, I can't believe someone was able to kick it. Iv'e heard a few stories over the years of people quitting, but nothing compared to the stories I've been told about not being able to quit. So, after reading your post I'm going to pray to the lord for strength and guidance to help me through this, to please, please, PLEASE help me. I'll pray for you too, so that you hopefully stay on your righteous path, and find happiness in your new freedom. God bless you, you really are more of an inspiration than you might know.

LordHelpMe83 , Thank you and welcome to the forum , i shall pray for you , there are alot of helpful members on here that have helped tons of people get off of this drug. I too worried about the wds , the same stuff you said, but the truth is , if you prepare yourself , start tapering, start taking a multivitamin now, drink lots of water and a strong will to change your life you can also do this. Get yourself a support group be it on here or meetings, friends family. I know you will find tons of horror stories online and at the clinic. Dont let those stories stop you. I was terrified at first , but i decided for once in my life i was goin to be in control. I check back mostly every day so if you have questions feel free to ask. thats why i come here to try to help others, look thru the forum, lots of people have beat this, Jenn just recently got off . You can do this . Just make sure to read up and prepare yourself, its not easy , but nothing worth doing is.
