Does this seem right?

As I mentioned in my first post on here, I have been on between 6-8 Norcos (10/325) for about a year and a half. I am ready to start tapering and get off these stupid meds for good. For the past two months I have never allowed myself more than 6 pills in a day. I know we are not allowed to put specifics about a schedule on here, but am just looking for advice. My doctor knows what I take and is supportive of me tapering, but has pretty poor info on how to do it. He just rambles off some stuff that makes it sound like it will be a cinch! So, today I am only giving myself 5 pills. Does that sound like a good place to start or would you suggest even cutting back more than that..like down to 4? 3? I want to do this right, but as anyone who is ready to get clean I want to do it with the least amount of WD possible. Thanks!

This is all wonderful advice! Thank you so much for the support. I have decided to take it slow, as so many agreed. I do believe I can do it. My husband and I want to have another child, so I have great motivation. I have been taking 5 a day amd I plan to stick with that for a week or so, and then go down one a week. I will keep checking back here. I am so glad I found this forum. Thank you so much for the support!

Ive done CT twice. It wasnot easy at all!!!!! The I had to go thru another two months of brain, and pain adjustments. Hardest thing I ever did. This time, I am tapering. Since I want off so much, I am doing great! Ive already gone down from 45 mg's of oxy's to 15 in 10 days! I thought Id have to go slower and planned on going so, but, as Im tapering, I go a bit longer in time and before I know it, I had a pill or two less in my system ina day or so. Last night, I even fogot to take my pill at the designated time! My brain is adjusting nicely, no shock treatment here to the body, so no anxiety or crying or sadness. After three times of getting off, this is my way to go. Do a little less every week if you can. Keep on trucking and dont stop. One day you'll be off and FREE as a bird!!!

I'm tapering very slowly, going down 2.5mg every six days.  The six days gives my mind time to adjust to it.    I had first tried ct and that was Hell, so I started the taper.  Good luck!

You have been given great advice on here :)
Just wanted to wish you luck and say keep posting you will get alot of support and just wanted to add that I agree a slow taper is always best but yes mentally hard but helps with less physical symptoms.
We are not allowed to give taper schedules on this forum so I will just say do some reading on here and get all the info that is out there. Good Luck

If you really want the least amount of withdrawal, do a slow taper. I think that's the best, but not always the easiest to do for many. The amount of time and amount of each drop varies by each body. Metabolism, nutrition, exercise, how long you used, many things play a role, that's why there are so many opinions a varied stories. I wouldn't drop more than you've planned, mostly because I always went too fast and relapsed. If you have a schedule, just stick to it. Decision making can cause anxiety and phantom withdrawals. Luckily, it's not a race. Keep coming back and keeping us posted, you're on your way.

I'm not sure about the tapering, but you are taking exactly what I was and I just went ct.  It wasn't fun, but it was totally doable.  I'm not sure how you feel about doing it that way, but just wanted to let you know that it can be done.  I pretty much hated everyone on here(lol..not really)for telling me I would be ok in a few days because I just couldn't believe it, but they were all 100% right.  Just a thought...  Good luck.  You can do it...either way you decide!

Slow and steady allows the for less chance of harsher w/d symptoms. The key is to drop small amounts every week or so and let your body, mind, soul and spirit adjust. Then do it again. It will be a month or month and a half process. Don't let fear in. Of course you will experience some discomfort but they won't be as severe. Great the symptoms as they arise.
