Done with hydrocodone

So I'm almost at 36 hours without a hydrocodone pill and I almost caved in last night because I was so restless,  but I'm so glad I didn't. I have been taking hydrocodone 7.5 for the past year and a half and would take 7-9 pills a day. My Dr moved me up to the 10's about three to four months ago and I was taking about 6 of those a day. I called in for my refill last Friday but the Dr said they couldn't fill it anymore, I started freaking out. Honestly, I cried. It felt like I lost my friend. I knew for a long time I needed to stop, I want to have another baby and I refuse to be on anything. So, I started to taper and got down to 25mg a day. As soon as I started the taper, withdrawal symptoms kicked in. I had the body aches, chills and hot flashes. It got a little better each day but I was still taking them. I decided Monday night was my last dose, though I have access to more. It was rough yesterday, I had no energy and was very restless. It's Tuesday morning and I feel better than yesterday, still have restlessness in my back, is that normal? Anything I can do to help that?  How long do you think these withdrawal symptoms will last? I'm ready to be me again. Thanks for reading.

Hey, I was reading your post. I'm going through pretty much the sand thing except my w/d are from oxycodone.  Bad bad stuff all of it is!  Hang in there, we are all in this together.  Luckily I've had yesterday and today off if work, today's my 2nd day with no Oxys but I gotta go back to work tomorrow?  How does one work while going through sweats, chills, shakiness???  I don't want to look like I've been on a crack binge the last few days

How long are you into wd? I feel the exact same way, I wish I had never touched it either, wish my Dr wouldn't have written me a script for it. The body aches will go away with time, I promise. It's so hard I know.  I'll pray for you.  I just keep telling myself tomorrow is going to be better than today and so on. I have been forcing myself to spend lots of time outside and it really helps. Good luck and let us know how it all goes for you.

And thank you BlueJay, I'm determined to do this, I've cut all lines of supply so I've put myself in the best position I can.  I've found this place is already a godsend, so many helpful lovely people and no judging. Good luck, let us know how you get on honey.

i do believe it is the vinegar in the pickle juice that stops cramping.

you have to have pickles in the UK?  dill pickles or relish?

good luck you guys

Thank you everyone. I feel pretty good compared to what I had been. It's just my mid back hurts, feels restless. I managed to get up at 6:30 this morning, tossed and turned a bit last night but I felt rested. My energy is slowly coming back and I am feeling so much more present, you know? It's a great feeling. I fed my little one breakfast, took a walk around the block and played outside with her for a bit. Felt really good to do this. On the pills I wouldn't want to do anything,  just lay around. I did buy some vitamins: magnesium, b complex and a multi vitamin. Haven't had any cramps, been trying to eat bananas and thankfully my appetite is starting to come back.

Owl: you can do this, good luck. It does get easier. I read this forum A LOT during this time and it really helps to know you're not alone.

Good luck with this BlueJay, I'm going through something similar at the moment, but you're 12 hours ahead of me and my withdrawal Is from Codeine.
Jinx, can you tell me what pickle juice is? Sorry, I'm over in the UK, and unless you mean vinegar, I'm lost.
Here to help and support you if you need it BlueJay.

It looks like Jinx covered just about everything.  There are other things you should do:

Keep Busy:  Yes I know, it is hard, but read, watch movies, watch comedies, listen to music, take a walk, exercise do whatever you can manage so you do more than just lie there feeling miserable.  If you can manage to keep busy the day will go faster and you might actually be able to rest some.

Post and Read:  When the insomnia kicks in and everyone else is asleep you can't stay too busy cuz you don't want to wake anybody up.  That's when you come here.  Post if you want to talk...if you don't want to talk then read other posts.  It really does help to read what everyone else is going through :-)

Good Luck to You!  You CAN do this...IF you do as suggested....get rid of all pills and sources.  When I CT'd I destroy my pills (using cat litter and ahem inventive liquid) and threw away the bottle with the pills.  I made sure that they could not be used again.  You WILL cave if you keep the pills...then you'd have to ask yourself...why did I put myself thru hell if I couldn't even get rid of them???

withdrwals are different for everyone, but on average hydro withdrawal will last 3-5 days.

some longer and some shorter.  the energy is the last thing to come back and that can take months.  if this is your first withdrawal then your experience should be shorter.  the more times we put our bodies through this, the harder they get.

first thing you need to do is cut all access to pills.  flush any you have and cut all sources.
this is 2/3 mental and it is almost impossible to fight your brain when it knows you can get some.

aftercare will be of help to you too.  even if you find an all women NA meeting and go a few times and just sit there.

stay HYDRATED.  drink, drink, drink.   you need to flush the toxin from your body.

for me the restless legs are the worst symptom

hot epsom salt baths
heating pad
icy hot or ben gay
if it is real bad you can wrap your legs in ace bandages after taking hot bath and rubbing them down.  then use a heating pad on top of all of that.

sublingual b12 vitamins.  $4 walmart
good multi vitamin
cal/mag/zinc  (3 in 1)  very important
immodium
nyquil or zzzquil
motrin
bananas
pickle juice  (stops cramping of muscles everywhere not just legs)
