75 hours and I believe some of my WD symptoms are reducing. It usually takes 99 hours to have ACUTE WD leave. I wonder what determines the exact amount of time until ACUTE WD's leave the system. Anyone know?

Yes, it is sad that we have to relive this nightmare over and over. I look back at my two relapses in the last two or so years and each one was so stupid. The first time, I was doing so well after a horrible withdrawal I was swearing I would never go back, and I was clean for like five months. And then I got this horrible flu and couldn't stop coughing. I remembered that I still had a hand full of percs left and that they would stop the coughs. So I took them saying --I will just take a couple till the cough is over. Of course, a year later and several thousand dollars later I was still taking them and then I went into another horrible withdrawal, and stayed clean for six months. I was very happy and didn't even think about drugs anymore. Then the holidays rolled around and I convinced myself I needed some percs to get through all the family **** and stuff --LOL. And of course, here I am four months later and worked my way up to 100mg of perc a day--it was a scaring me. And I couldn't even get high on 100mg. So I took this week off work and and settled in. Its been 52 hours. I have been shaking with hot and cold chills like crazy. As well as an overall sense of bad feelings. Depression I guess. I walked about the neighborhood a little while. And took a very hot bath --which has helped a lot. I am determined to stay off this time. But I have said that before....:)

It is sad that we have become more or less 'experts' on getting through withdrawals isn't it? I related it to just touching a hot stove over and over again. It doesn't make sense why we do it as it hurts so badly but that is the addict in us as our mind overpowers the reality of the situation and we just continue to chase that first high we got long ago.

I pray to give you strength to get you through these rough times and beat this once and for all. I know figuring out my triggers and pushing myself into aftercare is going to be key as I'm a firm believer you cannot change a thing if you do not change your habits and ways.

46 hours into withdrawal --shivering, shakes, cold sweats, and I threw up. No depression yet, so that's a positive.

Like so many of us,it's not our first rodeo, you would think once would be enough and for the average person it is,but for us addicted brain people we just have to keep getting on that damn bull till we can't function on any sort of productive level. Sounds like your well prepared for the waves of what's next in the withdrawl days,I will take your advice with the protein diet.I am a week off oxy and now coming off tramadol. So tired of this process,I have a big garage sale this weekend I am committed to doing,so I am praying for strength, fortunately looks like sunshine here in the north east, that will big a big help.stay strong, and thanks for the posts they have been most helpful.

Way to go..Wow I am so proud of you!!! Yes I have to eat low or no sodium and all lean proteins with all meals that i have to eat every 3 hours or so..Then the fruit like berrys & protein are in morning then the rest of the day is protein, veg & complex carbs..I stopped eating like that over 7 months ago when I was in stages of detox..As soon as I am back on track with it I have alot of energy..I am still working my way back there..It makes a BIG different on how you feel..Also it help me loose weight and keep it off..Make sure you do the Magnz at night too!!! You are on a good roll..Aright!

Thank you toothfaire,  I am now at 38 hours, and had a sweating session during the night. It so far isn't as bad as past times even though my dosage was higher. I was averaging 80mg of percs and norco and vics, whatever was the flavor of the day. But this WD so far is not that bad. There are a few things I am doing differently this time:

1. I'm much more prepared with vitamins and especially POTASSIUM tablets --these are really removing most all RLS.

2. Reducing stress down to almost zero by taking a week off work and telling loved ones to leave me alone for a few days. This lower stress is helping a lot.

3. I am eating --when  I can eat -- more protein and less carbs and sugar. I think this is keeping energy levels a bit higher. Anyone heard of this --the food I am eating is like skinless chicken and broccoli, eggs and bacon, but no toast, salads, etc, etc. NO SUGAR AT ALL. Anyone else tried this diet while on WD? Did it help like it seems to be helping me?

Nice job we are there for you! I just kicked heroin cold turkey at home. I'm on day 11 and still feeling like crap but its sooooo worth it! Keep posting. I dragged myself through hell last week it's not my first rodeo either I started on pills like you and have had dozens of relapses and WD but this one really was extra brutal with sprinkles on top. Can't even describe the hell I was in. It sounds like you are prepared well! Crack on!

30 hours--chills, extreme yawning, and short tremors. I am taking Potassium pills and they removing my RLS so I am able to sleep from time to time. I went outside int eh sun today and walked slowly about the neighborhood. It helps so much to do that. Also, I took a very hot shower. That really helps a lot. On to 40 hours. I have done this so much I feel like a real pro. I just DO NOT WANT TO GET CAUGHT IN THIS DAM WEB AGAIN!!!!

Sounds good Saddie, .. I can't believe how I went back on these evil pills:  Here is what I wrote on a board several months ago--I refer to it to ease my mind that I have been through this before --here it is:

Just came thru 100 hours of vicodin and perc WD (30 - 80mg per day) and didn't miss a day of work. Its tough but can be done --even tho I don't recommend it. (Take a week off if you can, but I couldn't). Here are some tips: Wait till spring or summer if possible because warm weather helps a lot. Get out into the sun as it creates endorphins. Try to exercise as much as you can because it also helps the endorphin flow. And believe me when I say I am very lazy but I made sure I took a brisk walk twice a day - it helps so much. Also, drink 5 hr energy drinks and red bull every few hours for energy. Tell co-workers you are having a bad allergy attack to mask the symptoms --tears, sneezing, shakes, chills, etc etc. It will take 100 hours to have the pain and symptoms lift - it seems like forever but when you start feeling somewhat normal again --its great. But there is a depression issue for a few weeks later, but it wasn't that bad for me. It came and went fast. Also, some jitters and anxiety and lack of sleep a few days after the pain leaves. Try to sleep at night, but if you can't just sit still in a chair and close your eyes. You will slowly feel your body saying "thank you" for stopping abusing me. After about a month its all a bad memory. I am done with those evil ******* pills. No more for me. I have been six months clean and feel great.

Hang in there! I like you have been at this point more times than I'd like to admit so it's never a question of what to expect it's just about having the support to get through it and then stay clean. I'm on Day 4 for the hundredth time and I'm focused to make it the last one I ever see. My latest routine would only have me using for a few days on and off but even going through shorter WD's multiple times a month is awful.

Let's buckle down and get through this!

Thanks ViCourageous, I have to take ambien to sleep, not much, just one pill. OK, Its been 12 hours and I woke up feeling muscle aches kicking in. I have been taking between 50mg -100mg hydro and/or perc, per day for five months. Before that I was clean for about a year. I started back five months ago to "just get thru the holidays" LOL. What a joke. I thought I could handle just a couple weeks then get off. Stupid. Anyway, it usually takes about 99 hours to kick and I try and think of it as a boat that's just left the dock on a 99 hour cruise across the Atlantic. Each hour the ship gets closer and closer to the end.
