Don't know what to do !

Hi everyone , Can you please help me with this ! I am taking two to three 10/500 Vicodin almost everyday . I average about five times a week or four . My question is should I taper down or just stop all together ? I have been taking Vicodin off and on for about three years for knee and back pain and both are getting better to the point that I think I really don;t need this junk anymore . I didn't take it from last July to January 2010 so about six months and I was taking less so the withdrawals were not that bad . But now at 20 to 30 mils I am a little concerned . I really value the support here in MedHelp and thank you in advance for your help ..Again thanks , Jim

Taper if you can, but it can be a real challenge for addicts. I'd suggest gradually getting to as low a dose as you can, and toss the rest. I don't know if you're addicted, but you're certainly dependent after such a long time. You will most likely experience some degree of withdrawal symptoms, but they'll diminish gradually. This site is a great place for advice and support during and after withdrawal.

Good Luck

You are a really low dose. Just cut that dosage in half but speak to your doctor first.
Let them know you want to stop them.
Good Luck,

I stopped CT because honestly I couldn't trust myself with even one pill.  Going CT the WD's can be tough but the worse for most is only 3-5 days depending on the person and how much usage.

Get lots of vitamins and drink lots of water. Immodium helps with the diarreah.

Know one thing you will get lots of support here.
