Day 5 from a CT 220mg a day oxycodone withdrawel. The beach was a bit too ambitious. I made it to the beach, but crawled and cried my way back.
5 days and to the beach! thats great...was gonna comment on the drugs u named but saw everyone else took care of that info..be safe and hang tight...5 days is marvelous!
Awesome dude have fun at the beach... I hope it all works out for you
If you are addicted to loratabs, then you're addicted to oxys, and to vicodin and percs etc. As far as your brain is concerned, they are the same.....opiates. The only real difference, to your brain is the amount/mgs/strength. They are all interchangeable.
So by using one opiate to relieve the w/d's of another, you may as well consider yourself tapering, and will be pro-longing your withdrawals. So be careful, or you'll be wondering why your withdrawals are lasting so long.
Good luck and hang in there.
Hang in there.......Congrats on 5 days!!! enjoy your day at the beach with your dog!!!! sara
Vicodin is hydrocodone. (5mg hydrocodone, 500mg tylenol). Tramadol is another addictive drug you want to stay away from. If you are 5 days in, you should stay the course. That is great news...
if you have not done so already, Find a meeting in your area. Or find a therapist to is trained in addiction counseling.
You can do this!
I was telling eagle this one day...A few yrs ago, I tried to step down from lortabs to darvacet, thinking that it will make my w/d alot less...I think i had read that somewhere., and i am not saying that doesn't work for some, i like to talk from just my personnal experience...Well , it ended up being the worst detox i had ever had...Even the one i did over 600 days ago off of 20-10mg lortab a day.. I have no idea why, because it is suppose to be a weak opiate., i think our brains only know it is a opiate no matter what it is...But , i remember eagle saying he had heard that had happen to someone before...SO i would never try that again
STAY STRONG!!

Heck yea, I am actually about to go to the beach with my dog. FOr some reason I have been having wierd cravings for sunshine. It's better than oxycontin cravings!!!! ha
I also beleive that if you take any kind of opiate you are just prolonging like you just said...All it does is feed those receptors an make them happy for a little while, then they will be wanting more in just hour and to me that is a bad place to be...hang in there.....You are doing great!!! Be so proud that you are on day 5..

Ok, I understand that. I guese the lesson learned here then is, if your going CT, do it all the way. Other Pain meds will only make your withdrawels draw out longer.
Taking ANY narcotic will prolong the wd's from oxycodone. Its called "cross tolerance" and it dictates that one narcotic may be substituted freely for another. Might not be on a one for one exchange.....but they still exchange. The morphine would have extended your withdrawal a bit........but at least you didnt hurt!
I am on day 5 of my CT detox, I am already past the really bad days. I am not going to take any vics or anything like that. This might of been good to know a week ago though ha.
I am just curious if completely different pain meds slow down the detox process of the drug your originally comming off of.
The first time I withdraweled Oxycontin CT, I was on day 3, and decided to take some morpheine to relieve the withdrawel pain. It worked, but I think it might of made my oxycontin withdrawel longer. I am not sure.
well..the cold truth is that everything you mentioned (except the advil) is an opiate of some sort (Even the tramadol works on similar receptors). All opiates cross react to some degree. So just hold your nose and jump in. I went cold turkey off about 200-300 mg oxycodone per day. It was physicially a rough week.....aches, pains, nausea, diarrhea, restlessness, anxiety. Motrin or advil do help with the pain. Immodum for the GI stuff, hot baths, distraction and low expectations of what I could accomplish those 10 days were key. But the real work comes after that. Make sure you have some support. THis place is great....keep posting here! AA/NA. Couseling. Stopping the meds are just the first step. But a HUGE one. Congratulations for makimg the decsion. Good luck!
well man i was taking 20 7.5 percs which is about the same ingredients as oxi's but get ready for a rough little patch if you really want to stop I'm on day 3 i didnt have anything for 2 and a half days, and i was going through withdrawals like crazy, getting hot cold all the time, dont want to do nothing cant sleep, and very emotional... my girlfriend knew just i needed something so she did give me one vicodon which i am prescribed for my lower back, and that helped tremendously.... I seriously think since you have to waht to get pain meds you really need to go talk to a doctor and REMEMBER your doing this to quit, and to not get hooked on something else..... even though oxi's about one of the worst, but once they mention methadone watch out...... you don't want to get on that unless you have someone there for you to help you through this all the way, thats more addicting "so i hear" than all of them.... I wish you the best and if you want to try to do it yourself try the cold turkey I know its hard, and its the hardest thing i had to do but maybe just get a few vics from somewhere and just ONLY and ONLY one per day it helped me, but your still going to feel like ****, so get ready for the ride because IT NEEDS TO BE DONE... GOOD LUCK JOSEPH REALLY DO WISH YOU THE BEST!!! im right here with you going through the same!!!!
