You are absolutely right, any amount of exercise is better than none. Even if you have limited mobility and injuries that make walking, running or jumping around to an exercise video all but impossible, you can still do low impact exercises such as stretching, lifting light hand weights, leg raises, and yoga type of flexabilty increasing exercises. They still help get blood and lymph systems moving and help improve circulation. And they do actually increase your heart rate and benefit your respiratory system which in turn aids in endorphin production more than a person realizes. It keeps your mind busy and is infinitely better than just sitting or laying around doing nothing but thinking about pills.
TOTALLY agree! Nothing helps me more. It even has helped take away my back pain - not totally, but I know the decrease of stress leads to the decrease of pain.
Many going through WDs know it's hard to get from one room to another, let alone exercise - especially if there is chronic pain. But we know the body is amazing at healing itself, and these pills only masked the pain of our broken toe while we continued to put on shoes and walk on it only making it worse.
Epsom salt baths do work too. Be encouraged.
Hi Comfortquinn.. I Love this post !!! Of all the things I found I had missed the most besides living in the now with my family was the reawakening of the Joy I found in being outdoors.. Nature in all her splendor woke my spirit and motivated me to reach further. I camped a lot the first year walked my dogs a lot and took long drives I did not experience the depression as keenly nor did I crave as much I credit this to how busy I was living.. Good for you and Congrats on your quit !! lesa
Endorphins are a natural way to fight stress. Exercise gets them going helps lower blood pressure and relaxes the mine
Awesome post! I agree, exercise helps so much! Congrats on day 6. I'm day 4. We can do this. I'm walking the dog right now and posting instead of popping!!!
AMEN!
Exercise increases endorphins we so badly need during detox. I would feel normal 5 minutes into exercise and it lasted a while after I finished. U hear of folks getting addicted to running...this is why! They crave the endorphin release. I am not saying become an exercise addict...but while detoxing...do all u can to make it easy on urself and exercise is a great anti-depressant and anti-anxiety tool...it also gives u nrg even if u feel so tired...so tired u dont wanna do it...once u get started...nrg returns and endorphins make u feel...well normal again if theres such a thing!
The health pages are great! the thomas recipe rox and aftercare is a proven way to help folks get clean and stay clean. I went to AA after going to several NA groups. They welcomed me with open arms. Sopmetimes it takes some meeting hopping to find the one that fits u...but I learned sumpin at each one.
good luck to everyone...the way to cleandom is inside you...u jst gotta reach down deep and find your soul
