Feeling a bit overwhelmed

I am feeling w/d from taking my patch off and stopping my Percs. I start subs soon but I'm afraid I'm going to get addicted to those also :( I feel like its hopeless that no matter what I'm going feel like crap for a few months. I just hate being dependent on something to make me feel normal. This is the worst I'm just very emotional right now :(

Those patches are hard to come off I hear so subs may be a good option for you.  I also hear they are addicting to and even when tapering you have lingering effects for a while after.   When do you start that?   Also in the meantime get some Immodium and some Nyquil or benadryl.  Drink lots of fluids, try to eat light foods.

COWS = Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale - It is the chart designed for doctors to know when a patient is in mild to moderate withdrawals for suboxone/subutex. Due to metabolism, age, kind of opiate/opioid vary from person to person, so a length of time for sub induction cannot be calculated accurately. That is why the COWS is use.

Lol I'm on my phone so it gets hard not to accidentally hit something. A cows chart has all the w/d symptoms on it. It gives you a score for each symptom. I believe you have to have a score of 24 to starts subs. Thanks everyone for the comments :) I am really hoping by day 21 of this I can say on here I'm clean. Thanks for all the support. It's going to be a very long night I am hoping I can atleast get a few hours of sleep.

LOL...I'VE DONE THAT TOO!  Just like I didn't mean to make that all caps!  It just means that's the answer you best liked and the poster gets a best answer mark on their profile.   Glad the bath helped.  Amazing how it does with the epsom salt.   I tried the fentanyl patches for a bit and you are right...you have to stay on schedule or its awful.   I don't now what cows chart is??   Weaver is dead on right...when you start them it will be easier than going ct off the patch.   It will give you time to come down and start establishing your aftercare.   As long as you taper, you should be ok.   But I understand your fear of trading one addiction for another.

I have the subs I can start anytime but I'm not up there enough on the cows chart yet. I'm deathly afraid to make things worse. I just took a bath with the epsom salt and that helped calm things down a bit.
The fentanyl patches are horrible if you don't change them the dam time everyday you go into w/d. I tried tapering th but it was hell also. So I'm going the subs route my hope is to be off the subs no later than 21 days from my first dose.

Hey hope, it's totally normal for your emotions to be all over the place. Just remember, it's withdrawals. So don't try to understand why you feel off and relax as much as you can. Tapering off the subs will be easier than the Fantanyl, IMO. Once you're on the subs, you will have some time to really get your aftercare in place and build new sober friendships. I would try to go to a meeting in person, rather than online. I know I need a hug sometimes and meeting local people is really great. I see members in the store or driving by, it just reinforces recovery as a lifestyle. You're almost there. Keep posting and keep your eyes on the prize.

My suggestion - get some chlododine & motrin - that helps with the flu symptoms & restless legs. DO NOT go on suboxone. i've been on it for 2.5 years & the detox apparently is way worse. It's not as intense but lasts sometimes weeks. With the percs, you set a time & 72-96 hours later - you're a new person. I hope this helps a bit.

Hi Hope sorry you are feeling so bad.I think it will be an easier transition for you once you get on subs and taper off quickly.Just try to take it one day at a time.It will take place and be over with.   Hang in there
