doctor cutt me off norco c/t with no help

My main doctor is out for the month and the doctors filling in refuse to fill myRX of norco.I've been taking 6 to 10 a day for over two years..i now told I'm not getting anymore because this doctor doesn't think I need them. But to cutt me off without help seems cruel.I have a seizure disorder which I've had my whole life, I have arthritis and bad knees as well as nerve pains..can a doctor just cutt me off with no help .I'm afraid of having seizures from the withdrawls.I left messages with no call back and I've been seen by the sub doctor who doesn't believe in narcotics at all unless your dieing. What do I do? ER?

Legally, yes a doctor can cut you off. If you have an adverse reaction to the withdrawals and something bad happens...well then you probably have some legal recourse.

Should you go to the E.R. for withdrawals?....hmmm, that would have to be a personal decision I guess. If you feel going cold turkey is going to jeopardize your health in a serious way and maybe hurt you...well, then Id go. If its just cus you dont like feeling the withdrawals...I would just bite the bullet and tough it out.

Withdrawals hurt...but there temporary! If you want to stick around and continue with the detox, this place is great. Friendly people here. You can check out the Thomas Recipe below. It will help to deal with the symptoms.

Wish you the best of luck.

Hi Amberlee, hang in there! you should be getting through the worst of it. Keep doing everything you can to ease the withdrawal symptoms. Get yourself outside in the fresh air, if possible. Keep us posted on your progress.

The same thing happened to me with my dr- she cut me off and would not return my phone calls.  I never signed a pain contract either.  At first I was so angry and freaked out, but now I see it as a blessing.
I'm seeing a new dr that I've been honest with and am grateful that my source is cut with my previous dr.  I kept the door open with her and it caused me to relapse.

You are almost through the worst of the WD; hang in there.  The Thomas recipe really helps- I found Immodium, Ibuprofen, EmergenC, and Epsom salt baths to be so helpful.  You'll feel better soon.  We are rooting for you.

That's typical detox. You won't die from it but it does feel like it.
Soak in a hot bath-as much as you need. Keep the fluids up as well as Tylenol or Advil. You'll feel better soon! The worst is almost over. You could try going to the er and explaining the situation-they may give you something to help like clonidine or Ativan. If you can stick it out, I swear you'll feel better soon. Keep us updated.

Welcome to the forum, AmberLee~
If you're already on day 3 of no pills......what'da think about just quitting?

6-10/day for 2 years will only go in one direction.....and most folks agree that days 3-5 are the very worst.  Maybe this is a wakeup call, eh?

you have almost gone through the worst, amberlee... don't panic, please...see? you are pulling through it :).... take a long hot bath with epsom salts, you will feel much better, take mineral supplements ( potassium, magnesium, calcium) to help you with muscle cramps and ibuprofen for the pain you might feel...maybe some valerian root for the anxiety and try to watch some funny movies... there is nothing you can do now but trying your best to cope with the situation, amber..do not focus on this uncaring doctor's actions, it would hurt you now... focus on your wellbeing right now

Thank you all..I've been off foe 3days and feel anxiety so much and also really crummy that I'm being treated so poorly..the doctor I usually see always talks with me and sees me.this one said I'm a drug seeker and won't help for the month.I said yes I am seeking the norco because I've been taking them so long of course I'm acting that way.its scary to go through this and its awful feeling they don't care..the nurse won't even v,call me back.so I guess I have robust deal..now what to do. I feel so lost and in pain.

Can your primary care doctor help you out for this month.  The doctor covering for your doc is a jrrk.  I would file a complaint on him.  Ask if he will at least give you a slow taper until your doc gets back.  Ifbyoungetnsick, go to sthe er.  Whether they help you osut is uncertain.  This isnanterrible situation to be in.
