wanting to get pregnant, taking percocets for back pain

I am thinking about getting pregnant but have been taking percocets for back pain for the last year or so.  Just wondering how to go about getting off of the percocets or will this do any harm for the pregnancy  going through the withdrawls or should I take something else that is safe?? I'm really worried about this because I really want to have a baby soon and I'm having a hard time getting off the percocets without having heavy withdrawls PLEASE HELP ME, someone?????

Good luck to you!!!  As the mother of 8, yes 8 children, I can tell you that it is a very wonderful thing to have children.  Oh yes there are days I want to pull  my hair out,  but overall, if I could, I would have had more children.  Okay, back to you.
Talk talk talk to your health care provider.  You have done nothing wrong to this point.  When your baby is in utero, it will also go through wd along with you.  You are a much stronger, smarter person you is far more capable of wd then your unborn baby.  I have mentioned her eariler tonight about watching a newborn wd from herion.  It was the worst thing I have ever seen a baby go through.  Remember, he had no choice in this matter, his mother did all the thinking for the two of them.  He would be 25 this sept.  I wonder if he ever recovered from this.  I also believe that those children whose mothers have done meds during pregency, may be more  likely to be addicts themselves.
I think you are very aware of the what the right thing to do here is!  Right?

I would definitely get off the pills before you get pregnant also carrying a baby is very hard on your back so it would be a very good idea to try to find an alternative way to handle the pain.You can either taper of the meds or CT off of them but either way you are going to have to deal with WD.I know they can be really bad but remember they don't last forever. The first week is the hardest try to focus on the beautiful baby you want to have to get threw it you can do it ....

The very BEST thing you could do is free yourself from the Percocets completely BEFORE getting pregnant.  Otherwise...you will have to go through the detox while pregnant, and that is rough enough as it is.

You can get GREAT input here on how to detox from Percocets...depending on how much you are taking...you may be able to withstand a cold turkey detox...or may be better off tapering.  Either way...get this out of the way and get yourself "well" before getting pregnant.  Not only for physical reasons and to avoid having a baby born dependent, but also for emotional reasons.  Hormones make us crazy enough as it is without the added stress of detox and withdrawal.
