It seems that a slow, steady taper schedule is the easiest on the body with subs. 1mg sub is approx. 40 mg of morphine. I tapered down to .5 and jumped. I didn't have severe withdrawal, but I only used sub for 3 wks. A friend of mine, who was on it for years, used the schedule in the sub FAQs that I mentioned above, but stretched it out over months. He reported a little low energy and sleep irregularity that was manageable. Good luck and take it slow. You will be okay if you don't get anxious or try to go too fast.

thanks for getting back. I've never seen a doctor .just got addicted to pain pills, and i've worked in the recovery field .did  no more than 1- 8mg a day for about 2 yrs. and last 6 months 1/2 that ,than 2mg for about amonth. I want off all but I have to support myself, no support. own a home...bills ect. I took 5 days off to get a jump on the withdrawal but back to work tomorrow and I feel lousy!!!

That is a common taper schedule. sIf you read the subutex/suboxone FAQs at the bottom right of this page you will see that technique being outlined. Is this the way your doctor recommends?
