Flu,mucus and frequent headaches while on ist stage of deaddictin, help needed.

As some people already know here that i am going through the initial stage of withdrawls and have been following advices of many people to take lots of liquid, vits, non opioid analgesic etc, etc. However,my flu and frequent headaches havent improved and are painful. Can someone suggest anything how to get rid of this flu and headaches ??

I feel very bad for 0421's relapse who has been encouraging me to stay firm in my struggle against my w/dls.It is difficult to resist the cravings. I was told to stop codeine completely because lower dose is giving me headaches.Although,i stopped to take any codeine yet, my headaches and flu is not giving me any relaxation. It is painful with the result i am unable to do my routine work and this thing is continuosly adding to my worries.

Hello everybody,  At last i can say one needs lot of courage to go through the withdrawl symptoms while one wants to detox oneself. one really wishes one were dead, such is the pain and mental agony. I do not know with certainity because i am still bearing the torture of w/dls but it may be worth to bear all pain. I hope w/dls may go after sometime. Rest God knows better...

yes, it does vary in everyone ,you could even have a cold anyway, and would make you very leaky! this time next week you will be much better! stay strong.

Thankyou sudie.Tday i have already stopped codeine.Taking fluids and all the stuff. But what is surprising is the fact that its flu and nasal congestion that has irritated me most than other w/dl syompoms.

you are having normal wd symptoms and they will continue until a week or two off the drugs .I would try to avoid replace any drug  to replace why you are coming off of if its not OTC ... It takes time you will get threw it just hang in there.

yeah i'll second what everyone is telling you - drop the codeine now otherwise you are just making it take that much longer... why drag it out when you can be done

no, they are not going to be addictive to you, they are to help clear your nasal passages, and dry up your tubes, although the ephedrine will help keep you awake, its as vicki said its the codeine your still taking slowing down your withdrawals and giving you headaches, i think you need to stop them now, and get these withdrawals over with, plenty of fluids also, best wishes.

No need to use caps, which is considered shouting. The forum is notoriously quiet on Friday afternoons. Please be patient until someone comes on who can answer your question.

Good luck.

In fact,i do not know what is on top. I went to a doc who gave me vasograine in tablet form, probably for head ache. I had 2 tabs and it helped. But to be honest i said nothing to doc abt my addiction or anything abt my tappering program. just 3 or 4 days after i started my tappering i felt a mild flu like symptoms which became worse till now.I feel fatigue, mental distress and above all this flu and headaches. Ifeel,as if things are becoming more miserable each day. Rest you know.....

Until you completely stop the codeine, this will drag on. The headaches are rebound from the decrease in codeine.

Take Excedrin Migraine. Keep drinking. Get some Sudafed and Immodium. Flush the codeine. It's not helping you.   Do you think you have a cold/flu on top of the withdrawal?

I have been taking 800_900 mg of codiene phosphate wih about 40% same dose of chloropheneramine maleate per day.For the past 2 wks i have tappered down to 100mg codeine and equal dose of clp maleate.Body ache, diarh, etc has subsided to some extent but sneezing, running nose and headaches are not going even after 2wks.I am taking multi vits, fluids and all that but frequent colds, occasional feverish shots and frequent headaches. It has irritated me and makes me feel to go back to drugs. Please suggest if something can help ?

I think you are probably having the wds, my Dr even said it would feel like I have the worst flu I have ever had. I had 8 bad bad days, but I am 28 days clean that is almost a whole month, you can do this, I was getting off two drugs together and I did it you can do this, just want to give you some hope, good luck and prayers to you.
Headed off to the Dr's I hope he is pleased with my progress I AM,

i am not sure if you are talking of a real flu or about the wds symptoms  .... headaches are common , try ibuprofen if they are very bad...anyway, i'm afraid that nothing will make those  symptoms to disappear but time... what are exactly your symptoms, btw ?
