For all the rude comments

I have been on suboxone almost 3 years now and my husband and i are currently trying to have a child, i was addicted to heroin for 5+ years and suboxone has helped greatly, as previous posts have stated every womans situation is different. My dr has told me that i can still take it once i get pregnant but im trying to wean myself off just incase...for every one who has given a rude comment - YOU OBVIOUSELY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ADDICTION!!! im posotive that it would be better for me and my child to take suboxone rather than relapse and shoot heroin in my arm. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but Nobody has the right to judge somebody else for taking a PRESCRIBED medication and doing what they know is best for them & the life that is growing inside them...im pretty sure not one person who deals with addiction asked to become addicted to there drug of choice. Talk to your doctor and figure out what is best for you and your unborn child, Ignore all the IGNORANT COMMENTS

I am sorry to hear youve experienced rude comments. I havent been on the boards for.awhile. For personal reasons. And been busy.

My take on addiction is it is a disease. One I.didnt.ask.for. Nor you. We or.at least myself have made some bad choices. Experimenting with substances I should have left alone. Lol.

But bad choices doesnt make us a bad person. It sounds like your proactive in your treatment and addiction issues. We all are individuals. Some people.see.this thing as black or white. Me...its very grey. So I just wanted to put my two.cents in.....

I will support you. I will talk with you. I am here for you.

My name is bama I am.an.adict. I.choose not.to.get high today. I promise nothing else. Nice to meet you. If I.say something that hurt I appologize in advance. Sometimes I.get.tough. But it is out of love and a want for you to suceed at beating addiction. Hugs

Hi! I'm sorry you feel you were treated rudely! I've been reading these forums for months now and I've never seen a rude or judgmental comment! I don't know how anyone could do that as we are pretty much all in the same ocean, albeit in different boats! Take care! I would say if your decision feels right to you, then don't worry about anyone else's opinion! Best wishes! Please keep us posted on how things go!!

PS! On a side note: WELCOME BACK BAMA! You have been missed!!

Who was rude? That doesnt even matter cause they shouldn't have said anything if it wasn't supportive.I DO firmly believe that this med shouldn't b taken by people on lortabs or something like that but I am positive its needed for heroin users and ur doing the right thing.I agree we don't choose to b addicts and the fact that u got on subs was ur choice and the best1u could have made to save ur life.GIVE URSELF A LIFE.U spoke2ur doctor and he said itsbsafe and fine to start trying to get pregnant right?!I don't think u should have to not have children because u r a RECOVERING addict. That's not fair.U quit doing heroin got ur life on track etc You have spoken to ur doctor u know the process of pregnancy&subs.Don't listen to people here who speak down to u about this.I guess some people forget THEY R ADDICTS TOO!!How would the people who said mean things about u getting pregnant feel of we said oh u have kids, became an addict, got clean but they should still have there kids taken away lol.Ur doing great n ur sobriety I feel like its a personal decision u have made to expand ur family. Good luck,God bless

Hey there, sorry you had a bad experience on here, you are following doctors orders and noone here is a doctor, just addicts trying to help one another with whatever decision they feel is right for them. So blow it off, you do what is right for you! In all honesty I am on suboxone and I didn't come to this forum for help with it, you have to put things into perspective when reading people stories on here as there are PLENTY of people who do take suboxone and are doing fine, they're not on here writing about it. I've read many comments that weren't rude per se but very negative about taking suboxone and how it's just trading one addiction for an even worse alternative. Some say it's expensive, well not more expensive than running out of narcotics early and paying top dollar to a drug dealer until the next script, mind you that's also illegal and can cost alot more in legal fees, possible jail tine and a record for life. So to those that have been successful tapering or cold turkey I think it's awesome but it doesn't work for everyone and we all have to make decisions based on our medical history and what's right for us as individuals. There have been posts on here where people say they're scared to start suboxone because of the horror stories on here. Remember almost all drugs need to be tapered as your system gets use to them and has trouble adjusting to living without the chemical, being narcotics, anti depressants, benzos etc. So please stop scaring people everyone is different. Addiction is part physical and alot psychological so if you go in thinking how awful withdrawals ate going to be no matter what drug it is, the mind is a very powerful thing and you will feel worse and feel more anxiety thru out the process. Take it one day at a time, we're all different and what works for one may not work for somebody else. In my opinion, unless you have something to say to help the person reaching out, don't comment. I took suboxone for 2 years, weaned down to 1 mg during the last 6 months until I ran out and NOTHING happened. Maybe I got lucky but I didn't read about it, so I wasn't expecting anything. Good luck to you and your baby!! Hugs, you can pm me anytime :-)

hmmm, this is your first post.  Where did the rude comments come from??  I have really never seen any rude or judgmental posts on this forum.. I have seen some tough love ones and a few that were strongly worded when others were concerned someone needed to get to the doctor or ER immediately.  If the subs are what you need to stay clean and your doctor is fine with it..I would never tell you differently.  Good luck on the pregnancy.
