For everyone/anyone who can answer

Hi, I have been reading many of the posts for the last few days & my only ? is this, if you suffer from chronic pain,(which is the reason most of us here take pain meds) & you stop taking the meds, how do you deal w/the pain that put you on the meds in the 1st place? Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

p.s. I really do admire all of you for your strength and courage. You really are a very special group of people. The support here is phenominal! The way you look out/stand up for one another really is amazing! Prayers for all of you. ((((hugz)))) Jen

1st question, are you on pain pills? if so do you take as prescribed or do you abuse them, run out early, etc.? myself have chronic pain, but after years of pain pills, i now abuse them, take them when i have no pain and take way more than prescribed. so now i'm detoxing and learning to deal w/ the "real pain" again. i know i will always need pain meds., but have a problem with addiction

That is a great question.  When I started w/d all I had in mind was getting my life back.  I didn't think about the chronic pain (post polio syndrome) I will have the rest of my life.

Now, I am at Day 16.  The remaining symptoms of w/d are fatigue, sleeplessness, and temptation.

The pain has returned and I am looking for ways to handle it other than with pills.  I do not know how successful I will be in my search; but, pills are no longer an option mainly because I abuse them.
