GETTING OFF SUBOXONE 4 GOOD....ANY IDEAS?

I have been on Suboxone for 6 years. I started at 16mg, finally down to 2mg. This is so hard! Im having some slight withdrawals , and they remind me of the horrible opiate withdraws I had from all the pills when I got sober. I can not get from 2mg to nothing. Does anyone have any good advice how to get OFF this drug? I'm tired of it and want it out of my system for good!!!  It did the job, but I'm ready to make the final leap.......

I just wanted to say congratulations on deciding to really get clean and off of opiates/opiods.   May I ask why you decided to get off of the sub?
Just wondering        anyway...great job    it will be totally worth it   :)

Take your time on these last couple drops, this is the hardest part.  As a reference, the sub doc I worked for recommended patients tapered down to at least 0.5mg/day before jumping....so coming off at 2mg may be a bit rough.  If you have a lot of trouble, I would recommend tapering down lower before jumping.

W/d is usually a little delayed because of the half life.  See how you feel...and like I said, if it becomes overwhelming, you may want to try to go a little lower.  Do you have a sub doctor?

Best of luck to you!

Thanks....Going to 1mg today...see how I do on that. The slower the better right now. I have a 16 year old daughter, single mom, good support system, but still the emotions are raging right now.....Trying to be safer than sorry....Last time I tried to drop to 0, I shot back up to 4mg. Lets see what happens. Thx for the support. Keep u posted!   :)

Thx...Yes..Big support system....I'm 41, with a 16 year old daughter. Single parent, but a great family. I see an addiction therapist who is helping me through but its still hard. I'm in great physical shape. I do cardio 7x a week, so sweating this out is really helping. Its the emotional and the evenings and now the cravings... Today, Im shooting for 1mg and seeing what that will do... Thanks for checking in...this helps!!  :)

Hi! Congrats on your taper!

I'm not going to lie to you. The sooner you get off Suboxone the better The longer you take it the more it builds in your bones & tissues. YOU CAN DO this but you must be prepared. Do you have a support system at home? Can you take time off? How old are you and what's your general physical condition? There are several things all natural remedies which can mitigate some of the symptoms - particularly in the post-acute phase. I'm so glad that you're not on other meds to complicate the situation. There are plenty of people who have done this - So, it's do able. Draw strength and support from them.

Hi and welcome there are alot of people here that used the subs. They will roll in and out. I talked to the Pham about the subs and they said they are going to the strips because it is one of the #1 drug use here in my small town. They say that they are shooting the pills and they think they can not do it as bad with the strips..So being that I was on the methedone and other pills with it for over 12yrs. I took a strip for only 4 days. I was stubborn and did not want anything, I jumped off of 30mg of dones and took a 2-8mg strips for one day then the next 3- I just did 2mg. Yes I played heck in my long long detox. But I am here and good to go today..I have learned alot here about the subs. Been changing my mind a bit about them.. I still think someone should just taper from what they are on. But it can be used for a milder stepping stone down..The body will do w/d on any thing you take for a long period. It is just natures way of saying it was not meant to be in our temple (body) Right !!!! You are doing good being down to 2mgs can you just stop now???? We here can help you with what, why and how we use the things we did during our w/ds. I have seen soooo many blessing here...Aftercare and support is a big one too!!!
God Bless u for wanting your life back..Now you can help the next one here if you hang with...

You can cut the pill/strip down as much as you want but when you're at a certain point it's sometimes hard to take that jump even if it's just a little. Not sure if this person is using strips or pills though but that doesn't matter too much.

Sorry I don't know much about suboxone and hope someone will come along and give you some advice.
Is 2mg. the lowest dose available.  Can you cut the strips?
