Getting off of soma?

I've been on soma for 4 years. For about a year or more I've take 3-4 350 mg a day.
What is the best to do? I understand it is very addictive. Wonder if I can slowly get off of the drug? I am now taking (started Saturday) 2 a day. Right now I am anxious and I have a prescription for xanax and am taking that to get by until I am off. Is it important to go to a detox center? My pschyatrist  has me taking Lamictral. And will get me another prescription of the soma so I can pare down. Any suggestions?

You do not want to do to a detox because they are going to make you less comfortable than you will be able to do in the comfort of your own home. There is a tranquilizer in soma called Miltown this is the drug in soma that is very addictive. Follow your psychiatrist detox plan. How long have you been on the xanax and dose the psychiatrist prescribe the soma if so for what? Xanax in it self is a highly addictive medication tell me you have not been on that for 4 years, Just continue with the taper on the soma, as long as your able to sleep at night you should be fine.--------------------Noah

Why not ask you doc these questions?  Sounds like you have good help there with a dr. and a shrink. Tell them and see what they say, that's the best advice. TJack

Like any other medication it is habit forming but it is not a narcotic........

Have you tried to stop using it what happens?
