I agree. Methadone and suboxen have half-lives of 5 to 7 days. All the other opiates have half-lives of a few hours. Controlling the amount you have in your bloodstream is a constant issue with most opiates. Methadone and suboxen metabolize so slowly that you are practically tappering off by discontinuing dosing altogether. I has been my experience that halving my dose every two weeks is comfortable and effective. I was injecting 25 to 30 percocet 30mgs per day for 1 1/2 years. Right now i am down to 5 per day orally after only three weeks (halved it twice so far--well, I decreased it a little faster that every two weeks with moderately severe withdrawals a few times).
Try not to freak yourself out to much. YOU have been on this site for a long time and you know we all made it to the other side. I would of thought, that since you are on a Sub program, you would of had to be going to meetings or some kind of aftercare, and to learn all you can about Addiction and pick up some tools along the way. I used to go to this Dr a long, long time ago and we became friends over the Yrs. He now is a Sub Dr and claims he makes ppl show him a list of meetings and other support they have been working on. Plus, he says he checks the urine once a month. He told me that he does a slow, slow taper to get off Subs and that he has at least 2-4 comfort meds he will give out. When I do see him, I tell him all about what we have gone through and what we suggest will help during the w/ds, as far as the natural way.. I came to the point in my sobriety, to know now that a nice easy slow taper is better then a c/t. Most can not do a taper, so we need someone to hand them out if we have too. The way to go is to let your Brain & Body adjust to each drop..Meanwhile keep drinking tons of water and get some good vit/min to help. Eat Healthy. The better the immune system is the better it can fight and rid toxins. YOU can do it!!! Do not worry about the "What If's"..Take it One Step at a Time.
We are always here for YOU all the way too!
Merry Christmas

I want to reiterate everything that's been said above. I've read many posts that in regards to Rapid Detox for suboxone...the outcome's not real good. I got off of subs Jan, 2014, and have been clean ever since. I was taking up to 24mg per day for 7 years...I quit cold turkey....and YES...IT SUCKED ***! But if you can give yourself some time...it can be done. Are you at 1 - 1 1/2 mg per day still or are you higher right now?
Maria- you are not going to like this answer and I know you're desperate but every single person that comes on here is really sick when they come off opiates, methadone or subs. That's the way opiates work. There is no "magic" cure and like my pals said above, you would spend 50,000 dollars or whatever for something that doesn't work and is very dangerous.
Like Sarah wrote, have you been to counseling? meetings? You've been on here since 2012, what have you been doing to learn how to live clean? You have to learn to accept that no pill can fix us. And certainly no procedure can get us off pills. That's quick fix after quick fix and you're living proof it doesn't work.
I would walk into a meeting immediately. And I would talk to your sub doctor and tell him/her to help you.
Please stick around:)
Hi well sub and methadone dont work out well with rapid detox they both have long 1/2 lifes so your dope sick for days long after your rapid detix is done the best way is a slow taper we can help support you threw this please think twice b/4 doing this..........Gnarly
I didnt see you had 2 threads up so you answered my last question!
I wish i could dig up some of the posts people made about doing this Rapid Detox. They had many problems health wise later on. It is not a natural body process. I get the desperation but please think twice about this. This isnt a magic answer to your troubles. Have you done any counseling?
