Getting your thread noticed

Hi all ! Hope you are having a good day
I thought I would make a post to help the new people and people who are not familiar with using forums.
This post is just a few of the simple tricks for posters to make sure that there question gets plenty of attention and responses.
1.   When you post a question,if it gets no answers after 30 minutes or so you can post again on the same thread and that will put it back up to the top of the page where it is definitely going to be seen.We call that "bumping" it.
If you do not bump it it will slowly drift to the bottom of the page and beyond into the netherworld of page 2-3 etc. where it will probably never be seen again.
2.If you have a thread and it does get plenty of answers and the responses are up there in number,it will probably start to die off after a day or so.In this case you are welcome to start another thread by clicking the orange question bar.I am sure that if you got lots of responses on your previous thread/question then the forum members already know who you are and will respond to your subsequent thread.
3. Some hours are very slow around here and the crickets are chirping. The main times that comes to mind are Sunday morning and Friday nights.Posting at these times could result in less or no answers for a while.
4.This is not really as important and I know some people are in bad shape when they first get here but it is sometimes also the reason people do not respond. We cannot even understand the question. Please re-read your question before hitting post. Not a big deal on spelling but some people use slang terms for different drugs that we have never even heard of and sentences that do not make enough sense to interpret.I am sure that most of this is caused by  auto-correct gone wild but sometimes the auto correct combined with other errors can make the post as difficult to read as sanskrit  or some other crazy, dead  language.lol
Anyway that's all I can think of and if anyone else has any tips please put them in this post. All of us want to be able to help as many people as we can.None of us want anyone left out.      :)

Another tip...pertinent titles are important, especially for the sake of being useful later in searches on the site (and google and other search engines).  While your goal is to get your thread noticed, some threads end up chock full of info.  It's nice if those can be easily found with a search down the line.

While you may be feeling desperate for answers, or in a scary urgent place, titles such as "HELP!" don't say anything about the body of the post.  Like for instance, if you're going to ask about suboxone, mention that in the title, so that the people who have knowledge about that particular topic can look at the thread...and people who don't can either skip it, or maybe find someone who DOES know.

Examples of good titles would be..."Suboxone taper, when do I start?"....or "Insomnia during detox, any suggestions?"...or "RLS Remedies during Vicodin detox"

Titles that will likely never yield search results (and may be helpful to people in the future) are also ones which may get passed by because not everyone opens threads that they're not sure of...examples:

"I'm miserable, help!".....or "Detox nightmare".....or "Need answers now!".  Those titles mention no medications, no specific questions/concerns.  Definitely always carefully choose a title that is relevant to your question, because remember, a vague title may cause the thread to be passed by.  A lot of people will not open a thread if they don't have at least a little bit of an idea as to what it is about.

The other tip I have (and it's more of a personal pet peeve...lol)...PLEASE remember to write something that is readable.  If there is NO punctuation and no paragraph breaks, all of the words run together and that can be VERY difficult to read.  Also, this is not "texting".  It's really appreciated (to me anyway) when someone actually takes the time to WRITE and not abbreviate every single word.  Some posts like that require a freaking translator!  I know I personally will skip posts I have to work at to figure out.  I'm not talking about spelling and grammar....just making the post flow nicely, with periods, commas, paragraph breaks (especially if it is long), and no "text talk".

Great tips!  Good thread!

Thanks all
Hope this will help people get more mileage out of their posts.I just thought of another thing.  If the post is about how to obtain drugs or beat a drug test it may also not get many answers.Forums like bluelight  would be a better choice.     :)

Yes blotout that one is a good one. I caught that one real soon. It has the little hour glass by it. I just always look at the date and the thread if it is still going on......I often wonder how those people are doing????

Great info!
Your post should be cut and pasted into a greeting to all newcomers.
I would just add don't use note after note to try to post a long missive that belongs in a message. (This happened to me w/someone.)

                                   Thanks ricart70
