Girlfriend on Zanax and Methadone. What should I do?

Hi, my girlfriend has been getting Zanax off the street, and from what she says occasionally Methadone when she can't find Zanax.  She has been acting very strange and she is starting to drive me crazy.  Her symptoms include: Swelling of hands and feet, constantly chewing ice, and mint life savers, nodding out.  Eating a lot of ice cream, wheezing when she breathes, nodding (but says she is just tired), irritable, always leaving the house, and sometimes full of energy where she cannot sit still.  She has been hanging out with crack heads too so she may be doing that as well.  My question is this:  Do I need to just leave her alone?  Will she ever be able to be sober again?  Right now she says she doesn't have a problem, but she is driving me crazy with her new behaviors. Also, does anyone have any idea what drugs these are that she is on?  She says Zanax, but I think it is more then Zanax.

I heard the same thing about combining those two. That's probably what the nodding is.Who knows what she's taking for the speedy buzz

Heroin addicts that get forced into methadone treatment will combine it with Xanax and get the same high or better as heroin.  Nodding off and respiratory depression, hence wheezing, are common with this combo.  I wish you luck but doesn't sound good.  Energy must be from meth or something else.

I have been on xanax and lortab(opiate)(90days clean)I would NEVER hang out w/crack heads.Chances r she is doing a lot more than u think.Even pill heads think crackheads, heroin addicts the think there too good/better than people like that(there all junkies its a addict thinking there better  because they believe theyre NOT "LIKE THAT".Give her1chance to quit stay away from them.Explain how u feel, that u will do whatever u can to help.If its no leave. You seem like u have ur head on right and really love her don't ignore it  and  end up hating her.If she won't stop.she is only getting worse. The nodding out is probably from opiates a lot will make u mod less will give u energy. Also heroin and coke have the same effects.GOOD LUCK

Normally when someone takes Methadone they nod off and my experience with Xanax is it can make you forgetful and sleepwalk and fall asleep wake up the next day not even knowing you had slept. Hope this helps...

HI welcome to the forum.....first of methadone and xanex dot mix well there are so many deaths to this combo most clinics wont allow it even if you got a script for it make sure she know this you very well may be saving her life ...the noding is the methadone she is taking to much at once as far as the boundless energy spurts it sounds like methamphetamine to me kinda hard to say some people get energy from oxy...just know you cant save her if she has been doing the methadone steady she is in for a brutal awaking when she trys to come off it
you might want to sit down with her and have a non threatening talk with her when she seam to be normal if she wants to get clean show her our forum she can learn all about what it going to take to get well ....your support will be a huge thing for her but like I said she got to want it b/4 she will stop keep posting and read some of the other posts again knowledge is power you can also learn a lot here to I wish you all the luck in the world with this.....hope to see you hanging around ....God bless......Gnarly
