Have you been talking to my husband today????  Hahahahaha!!!

Yes, too many words.  Too much information.  Too many details.
That'd be me~

I'm just one of those that thinks something will be misunderstood without the details.  I've seen WAY too many hearts misunderstood due to a lack of communication.

I overwhelm some people....my passion blazes outta me like a fire.  I don't just "sorta like" or "sorta dislike" much.  I am an EXTREME addict.  I learned many years ago during my "hot seat" at treatment and in working my very first 4th step that our attributes....in excess....become our defects.
Tempering.....moderation....gradual.....those are difficult for me.  But I am a willing student still learning....and I'm SO glad you hung in there with me and got to know my heart, Sara~  Love you Iron Marshmallow~

Connie, i remember when you first got here.  You stayed at arms length from me so i decided to sit back and just watch you.  I liked what you had to say but i was always oh geez, here goes half a book and that drove me nuts!!!!  I am one of those the less words the better!!!  I started to see your personality come thru and i really liked it.  Little did i know at that time how connected we would become.  You have been my rock thru such a heartbreaking time for me lately.(and Lesa too)  I cant begin to tell you how much it has meant to me.

Congrats on 2 amazing years!!  Do something nice for yourself today and everyday.  Never lose sight of you my friend, you are heaven sent~the iron marshmallow

Hey Connie-

I love you lady and admire you so much for your strength and resilience.  I know so well what it is to suffer this kind of pain and yes, you are right, the opiates only take the edge off.  Because they are my only option right now- that is what I do until surgery.
I've been doing some research and wonder if you have looked into getting nerve block injections or botox injections for your pain?  I've read some studies that suggest these are both powerful tools for chronic nerve pain.  Now that you have insurance (YAY!) and some doctors on board, I am wondering if these are options that have been suggested to you?
Also, gentle restorative yoga with a teacher who specializes in working with people with serious back injury etc is really quite amazing.
One of my student's grandmothers has had debilitating back pain since an accident 8 years ago.  (similar injuries to yours) She had a minor surgery to repair some damage last year and then in January she began this restorative yoga with a local teacher I know.  She has managed to get off ALL her meds in the past three months and is living a full and extremely active life for the first time in nearly a decade.  She is absolutely transformed and has even managed to lose 70 lbs (which is awesome because she has cardiac problems as well due to so many years of inactivity and weight gain)
I don't know if this is an option for you but I would highly recommend looking into it.  Her ortho surgeon had told her she would be in pain and need meds for the rest of her life.  This is a HUGE win for her and I think that you, above all my dear, deserve a win.
If you want more info about specifics PM me.
I wish you peace and comfort lovely lady.  You deserve it.

My heart is overflowing with so much love and gratitude... for EACH (very special) ONE of you that took the time to write to me and celebrate my 2 yr milestone!!!!!  You may not even realize how much EACH of you have touched me.  You have ALL literally become family to me.  I have such a special place in my heart for each one of you.

Yesterday was a difficult day for me...emotionally and physically....remembering....reflecting....proud of my clean time...yet discouraged due to my expectations as well.  I spent from 2008 to 2012 in pain and hooked on pain meds.  So of course, after being clean 2 whole years my personal expectations have been to at least have a week or two during this past 2 yrs where I wasn't in pain. (I did have ONE day and was so ecstatic I put a journal up about that wonderful day:):)

I am fully aware and grateful for the progress I HAVE made:  I have been granted disability during this time (a complete GOD deal for me), I have a meeger income again, I finally have medical insurance as of 4 months ago and have been able to see many doctors and have many tests done.
I still do not have any satisfying answers...YET!!!
All that anyone is sure of is that after the accident breaking my pelvis, tailbone and sacrum in 2008, two previously bulging discs that fully ruptured post accident in 2009, being bedridden for 2010 and half of 2011 due to those discs and then finally getting my back surgery in 2011.....that I have nerve damage and nerve pain.  Well, no s h i t  d i c k  t r a c y!!!!!  Hahahaha!

So....not to whine....not to complain.....but I LONG for a normal daily existence where I can go and do....visit and travel....shop and have lunch...just ANY opportunity to actually "live" again.  I know that returning to the use of opiates will only take the edge off....and send me spiraling down the suction tube of addiction.  That is NOT an option for me.
I am remaining open minded...trying new solutions.....being an obedient patient.....remaining hopeful and attempting a postive attitude most of the time.  I will admit.....I get VERY discouraged....I want a (correction....TEN not ONE) Lortabs at least once every day (LOL).....and I have learned to throw myself into helping others and new activities (like NFL football...hahaha or March Madness College Basketball)  ANYTHING to distract me works.  I am probably physically idle more than most of you at 2 yrs clean...but MedHelp has been a life saver for me!!!

All that to tell you that out of difficulty and suffering, I am gaining a new capacity for joy and thankfulness.  Music and laughter are two of my very best friends.  So my Medhelp family...I thank you from the bottom of my heart for rekindling my spark when my own light goes out.  I have deep gratitude to all of you who have lit the flame within me.

Connie, congratulations on two years my good friend. It's been so great knowing you on this forum. You've helped me out more than once, especially with your hard-earned black belt in al-anon over on the living with an addict forum. You write stuff to me exactly when I need to hear it. Never stop doing what you're doing! Much love and respect, Robert
