methadone vs. cold turkey

is it harder to withdrawal from methadone vs. withdrawaling from lortabs?  i was taking 10-15 lt's a day. i am not taking anymore at all. today is the first day i havent taken any.  but  i will be taking 30mg methadone for only a week, then i am going cold turkey.  will it be easier withdrawaling from the week of methadone than it would be to just quit now and withdrawal from the lortabs?

Listen to these people methadone will grab you fast and get a hold on you so fast the buzz is different than any loratab you will ever take that's how it grabs people so easy .Let me tell you I would trade you places in a minute and come off loratab cold turkey any day cause I'm in my 3rd day coming off methadone cold turkey and its hell my legs still don't want to stay still. I got sick of it controlling my life I walked out on 38 mgs.I'm going to beat this evil drug but if your scared of a little loratab withdrawal you better never walk in a clinic trust me I've done both

Going on a one week taper on methadone for hydro isn't a good idea, usually. Using methadone for lortab is like trying to put out a fire with gas. I have been on those inpatient 1 week tapers for dope and there is always a rebound or a couple or 3 sick days to pay. all the best

You really dont want to trade a hydro habit for the methadone. From my experience I wouldnt say any more than two weeks or so of the methadone. Why cant you try and taper as far as possible (even 0) with the lortabs? Lots of tricks available to help you quit for good at the right point. And there are other doc's that might go the sub route with you. This can be done........

i tried that. i went with my ex hubby and tried to talk to the doc. he wont prescribe me anything of the sort, he only suggested that i go to the methadone clinic.  that is pretty much impossible for me to do because id have to be there at 5  every morning to get the meds, and i have limited transportation right now and 2 babies.  i am going this week because i am staying somewhere that i can use a car, but  after this week i am screwd.

i would rather go cold turkey off lortabs then methadone anyday, avoid the methadone, the half life on it makes the withdrawals last months sometimes to where lortabs is gonna be a week or so. sterr clear of methadone seriously

i cant do the inpatient thing because i have an 11 month old and we are rediculously attatched to each other. i could get over it, but he will not even let anyone else hold him, feed him, change him, nothing.  not even his dad. my heart hurts thinking about how he will be hurting for me. how long does the inpatient thing usually last anyway?

Is there anyway you can get into an inpatient treatment center?

i have tried tapering, the only thing that ends up happening is that i start craving so bad that i go buy, then take more pills than before to make up for what i wasnt taking.  i have no success with that.  im in tears now. i dont know what to do. im terrified. i am bipolar on top of the addiction and have had trouble with suicide attempts. i dont want to end up buried over this mess.

Since you will be only on for a week of the Methadone, you probably won't  become addicted to it.  I had a long addiction to Methadone and can tell you that it is way easier to come off of the Lortabs.

Be sure that you only stay on for a short period of time with Methadone.
Second, you will still have the mental issues of withdrawal to deal with.  methadone will take away a lot of the physical pain that you would feel if you went c/t, but there is still plenty of work to be done on your side.

I wouldn't risk it. Have you tried tapering?
