HAVING TROUBLE SLEEPING

Hi All,
Its been a couple of weeks.. Today is day 69 clean from Methadone.. It feels great! I am improving a little everyday but still not 100% yet.. So ALL of you that think its not possible..ITS so possible and so worth it.. Be patient and take it one day a ta a time..
My biggest problem is SLEEP.. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work..
I met a personal trainner he recommened an over the counter product called PHENIBUT.. I tried it for 3 days in a row and it really worked, however I do not like the next day hangover that I feel.. Its awful.. Its worse then an AMBIEN hangover. I feel cloudy and tired..
ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW IF THIS PHENIBUT IS A SAFE PRODUCT??
If anybody knows of any OTC sleep aids that WORk please let me know..
Thanks

Congrats to you on 69 days. You have alot to be proud of.  Sorry you're having trouble sleeping - that seems to be the last thing to return to normal for just about everyone.  When I sometimes can't sleep I've taken benedryl, but for me it causes that same kind of foggy hangover feeling you were referring to - but that's just me.  It'll definitely help you sleep though.  Gnarly swears by a tea called "Yogi Kava".  I keep meaning to pick some up but I haven't yet. He refers to it as "xanax in a mug" :).

I hope sleep comes to you sooner rather than later; it pretty much ruins my day when I don't get 7 or 8 hours, so if you're really lacking in downtime, I imagine you must be pretty frustrated.

Well wishes to you...
Sandy

(If you decide to try the tea, let me know how it works for you! )

phenibut (Phenyl-γ-aminobutyric acid) is a phenyl derivative of GABA, a derivative of the naturally occurring inhibitory neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)

Phenyl- A caustic, poisonous, white crystalline compound, C6H5OH, derived from benzene and used in resins, plastics, and pharmaceuticals and in dilute form as a disinfectant and antiseptic. Also called carbolic acid.

Like the natural occurring neurotransmitter GABA (amino acid), it bonds to the  GABA-B metabotropic receptor, and provides a  calming action like the natural occurring neurotransmitter, and similar to other GABA agonists.

There is dispute in the literature about whether or not Phenibut binds to the GABA-A ionotropic receptor, which is responsible for the actions of  benzodiazepines, barbiturates, z-drugs, and for some of the effects of ethanol.
That could be one possible reason you feel like you have a hangover.
Another is that when you take a drug that takes over from the natural occuring neurotransmitter, the natural occuring neurotransmitter, goes dormant, and after a while of continued use they may even cease regenerating and die off. It takes a while for the body to begin producing them again, and restore the natural function the neurotransmitter provides.

You can take multivitamins B complex vitamins especially with vitamin b6, Calcium and Magnesium. The vitamins help with neuron regeneration, while the Calcium and magnesium at bedtime help calm you and help you sleep.

You can also try taking an amino acid called L-glutamine instead of the Phenibut,  it is an amino acid required for GABA production, which is the relaxing part of our brain.      (1000 mgs 3x day) Increase up to 2000 if needed.

You can get that stuff wherever they sell vitamins and other natural remedies, walmart etc. It's usually under $5.

That should fix you up.

you might try melatonin it is a natural sleep aide herbal medicine and is completely safe. I dont know any thing about phenibut never heard of it.  I have also used tylenol pm and it works also. It just has benadryl in it to cause sleepiness. Congrats on being clean for so long keep up the good work!!
