HELP! Scared of withdrawal!

Hi...I was wondering if anyone might have some advice.  I have been taking about 21 mg total of oxycodone now for about 4 months.  I want to stop. I am nervous to have any type of withdrawals.  I never take anything during the day as I have 2 children, but at around 5pm I take my first 7.5 and then 2 hours after that I take another 7.5 and then 2 hours after that I take another 7.5.  Can anybody please help me or offer advice as to what i should or could do to lessen the withdrawal symptoms.  Thank you

I second the fact that four months is to much but it could be so much worse for you and I applaud you for realizing this this soon and choosing to seek help for it. It may not be so bad I pray for you but I am sure you will feel so discomfort but it will be well worth it after you get through the process of detoxification. I am glad to know that there are folks out there willing to stop before it gets so much worse for you and your family. Post here read and try to take suggestions as there is always someone that is more than happy to share their own experience through it so that it might be of some help to you. Hang in there and remember you are most definitely not alone in this addiction thing. Michael

Welcome,

Believe me we have all been in your shoes or close to it.  I to was scared to death
of the w/d's but I was also scared to die.  SO that was my option, w/d's or death.

And like it was said you have only been doing this for 4 months so right now it
will be easier for you than down the line, also the w/d's wont last as long.

The longer your on the pills the worst it will be.  Please do not end up like me, 6 years
on high amounts of the stuff.  I have gone c/t and made it, and I am a big baby.  you can
do this and in the end it will be better for your kids and your new job.  Like it was
said try a taper.

Please ask and everyone will help

Thank you for your response so quickly...the only thing with cutting the dose down more is the original pill that i get it a 30mg oxycodone...then I cut that into 4.  So thats why each one is 7.5.  Last night I only took 2 of the 4.  I know I can do this..I'm just freaking out about the withdrawals because I am starting a new job on Thurs and I don't want to be in the middle of having them.  But its funny...during the day I do not take anything and I feel fine and motivated....I take my kids to the park and on playdates.  I don't know...how long do you think I will have withdrawals?

If you quit cold turkey, you will feel like having the Flu for 4-5 days. 4 months of usage is not that long. The other thing you can try is to cut your doses down each time. Maybe cut out the 3rd dose. Stay at that level for several days to a week. Then break your pills in 1/2 and take 3 halves spaced apart, for several more days. again drop 1/2 from the daily dose to 2 halves spaced apart. Then quit or go to the 1/2 for a few and then quit. You will be uncomfortable the whole time but manageable.
