Thankyou! I am learning this the hard way..........Cant trust your dr
i am a nurse and it never ceases to amaze me that physicians will believe what drug reps tell them. tramadol (ultram) was marketed to physicians as a non narcotic pain reliever. over time in this profession i have had to produce pdr information to physicians who have argued with me over this. it is an opiate, no different than any other opiate, is addictive and can be equally difficult to detox from as any other opiate. physicians just do not pay attention to this. all they think of is keeping people off lortab, oxy, xanax. anything that "rings" of addiction. they can be so self absorbed, refusing to look into substances for the appropriate treatment. keeping people from healing, knowing what their medications are for. i am sorry for the rant, i have just worked with too many md's that are total jerks. it is scary to me that so many meds are prescribed to people without any thought. even non narcotic meds. so little goes into the diagnoses or the fact that people can be on multiple medications from multiple dr's. i would trust a pharmacist/nurse to review all of a pts prescriptions to make sure there are no side effects, interractions etc. before i would trust 90% of drs.
I just wrote to you on the other one:) This is so fun, i love being able to talk to people about all of this! I feel so full of hope today! Thanks you are toooo cool!
I'm so glad you came to ask about the tramadol. I had withdrawls from hydro before and tramadol too (not at the same time-yikes!). Tramadol (for me) was MUCH worse than hydro. The hydro was just "a touch of the flu bug" compared to being flat on your back for a week or more with tramadol withdrawls.
Congrats for not trading problems angie!
PS--just throw away that tramadol script
Thank you God!!! Why is my back doc such an idiot?? I didnt get it filled.... wanted to find out more about it, man that really ticks me off that I go in to tell him Im totally addicted to the hydros and he gives me another one to go insane with! Im in shock right now! I wont get it filled EVER. This ride im on is bad enough thanks...........Think its time for a new Doc.
I have read post about withdrawal from tram so it must be addicting. Also I have read post from people with real pain that say thier pain became more bearable with time away from painkillers. They use aleve or other non addicting meds. When a doc would ask me if aleve would work for my pain I wanted to slap him. But wow it is taking the edge off of my pain pretty well when I remember to take it. Aleve doesn't pound on my brain to take it like vikes or oxy.
My little guy and others are treating my nicer now with some soberity. He and I still pray for all of us to have another sober day.
It is addictive, I take it for leg pain that comes from Ewings Sarcoma and i cant get off it because of that and because my body totally shuts down without it!! I hurt worse get sick to my stomach, cant eat etc IT IS ADDICTIVE!!! Stay away from it ! Sometimes I think that its worse than the Vicodin they have me on! its an evil drug! I have tapered for the last couple days off of it to the point where im at the dose that im supposed to take ! That stuff will drag you in fast!!!

If you are talking about tramadol-I just went through this with doctor-it IS addictive. The doctors say LESS than other drugs, but read some posts on here about tramadol-people DO get addicted!! My doctor just recommended it for me as well-not going there!! Others with more experience will post shortly. Google it online as well!!
