I went down 5 mg yesterday, and woke up and spent the morning with the heebeegeebees, a/k/a withdrawals.

I bought the book yesterday, I’m not done reading it, but I wanted to share that for me it is very informative..... He seems to have done his homework as far as understanding addiction..... and offers methods, drugs, and alternatives for help getting off not only opiates.....but all the other drugs I see people struggling with on this site.  I like that he believes that you gotta go to AA or NA in addition to his methods.... and he seems sympathetic to people getting off opiates and he acknowledges the fact that reducing your dose creates terrible w/d’s.  I don’t really understand exactly how low of a dose of oxycontin a person should be on before converting to suboxone (if they choose that route) I’m on 40 mg per day for 9 days now, would I be a candidate now or I wonder if I should go lower?

before you start suboxone you have to into into 100% full blown withdrawls before you can take you first dose. if you still have opiates in you system the suboxone will compete with the existing opiates kick them out sending you into the worst withdrawls youve ever had(trust me last time i took my first dose too early it was hell!). yes but opiates must be fully out of your system before you can start suboxone. but before you do read the info in the health pages about suboxone and make an informed decision. because if i had i wouldnt have touched suboxone!

I don;t know about sub,  do they have you stay off the opiates for some amt. of time before starting sub ?  
Some say sub saved their lives , while others say don't go that route, just to quit CT.

I was able to wean down from the lortabs, and when I ran out, I went into w.d. within 24 hrs.  It was scarey, but I did have the Clonidine and a few tranzene, all the staples like Immodium, benadryl, otc pain meds.
