Help Please, questions about WD

I had to cut back my oxycodone 10 mg from 10 tablets per day to 6 per day and have been dealing with WD symptoms since last Thursday.  I was very uncomfortable over the weekend,  Yesterday was still kind of rough  and then last night the shaking and anxiety stopped altogether until this morning.   I had another 4 or 5 hours of shaking, then it stopped again . It stopped for 4 hours, started again for another 1 1/2 hours, and is now stopped.   Am I starting to pull out of this?  Does the anxiety just suddenly go away, like you wake up and its over?  Or is it a process that comes and goes for a while?

Today is my 6th day.

Please help.  It took tons of courage to post this.  I feel so alone right now.

Thanks,  Ellie

Sorry if it seems as if I'm bumping this post.  Some forums get very upset if it seems you are bumping, but I have another question.

Greatgreebo:  You spoke of a taper schedule that would be a lot more comfortable.  I would like to try to taper down to 3 a day and see if it's possible to still control my pain.  After this little episode though, I'm petrified to try even a taper, and I'm clueless how to start.

Could you give me some ideas on what would be a comfortable taper schedule to use?  I won't have to hurry, so I can go slowly.

Thank you.  Ellie

Today is day 7 and I'm beginning to realize I'm feeling better.  Still some off and on jitters, but they last a shorter amount of time now and in between I actually feel tired out.

I want to thank those who posted back to me.  Last night it just seemed endless.  You seem like such caring people...would it be ok if I stop back now and then to say hello?

Thank You very much.

To Greatgreebo:
In answer to your questions,

I would love to eventually quit, but my doctor has told me that I have to accept the fact that this will be for life.  I am physically dependent on my meds.  I have been on the oxycodone since June or July of this last year, so about 6 or 7 months now.  They are prescription medication, but that certainly didn't make me less dependent...lol.

I fell and hurt my back and then got pneumonia (horrible body aches, headache, chest pain...etc.) so I had two episodes back to back.

Strange, I have never had a problem before with adjusting them if I had to take more for pain.  I don't run out at the end of the month, because I adjust them.  This time it bit me in the butt...I must have hit that certain level that I couldn't recover from.

I learned something new this week.  (*weak smile*).

Welcome to the forum. You are NOT alone, we are all here to help each other. You may be a chronic pain person, but it also sounds like you are physically addictedyour body needs it) vs. mentally addicted (you think you need it). Over time your body adjusts to the dosage you are given and it needs higher doses of the drug to control the pain.
Keep posting....

I cut back because I have been stupidly using more than I should have due to increased pain problems.  I'm a chronic pain patient and have been taking meds for years with never doing this to myself.

I'm ashamed.

I know this is an addiction forum and I'm a chronic pain person, but I was reading this forum trying to get some information.  I just keep getting scared that this is going to go on forever.

I just want to stabilize on correct dose for me.  I am down to the correct dose now, just waiting for my body to forgive me.

Your symptoms should be easing up soon. They 'come and go'. But over all it will get a lot better.
So-did you cut back because your goal is to eventually quit?
If so, you can taper a lot more effectively with a lot less discomfort if need be. Post and let us all know WHY you cut back, if you are addicted (versus just physically dependent) and IF you are planning on tapering down to nothing. Also, how long have you been on them and do you have a script or do you buy off the street. If you want to taper comfortably to quit, we can help you.
Good luck

It does go away, slowly. Why are you cutting back? Is this a planned taper, shortage of pills or what?
