Help for addiction to opiates

Hi! I'm 22 and I've been taking opiates dec. 2008. I've been addicted 2 them since 2009. I've been on Lortab, Percocet, Tramadol, and now I'm on Norco. I will take just abt any narcotic. I live in chronic pain. I've had 2 back surgeries since I was 15. I had spondiolathesis. My spine almost slipped in2 my hip and there was only half a inch of bone holding it up. I had 2 have a fusion. Now I've got 2 pinched nerves from the bolts and screws. I will take up 2 10 pills s day. If I don't have them I can barely walk and I can't function either. I'm terrified of the withdrawals!! I feel like I'm gonna crack up and I'm scared I'm scared 4 my own safety. I struggle with depression also. I have no help what so ever. My family just screams at me and cusses me n says I'm nothing n they wish I was out of their lives. My husband doesn't understand at all! Idk what 2 do! I'm the talk of the community n I can't walk out of my house if I don't have a pill in me cuz I can't stand the way ppl look at me and treat me. I need help and support immediately!!!

My dr. Perscribed me lyrica one time and my mom had heard so much bad stuff abt n plus she had taken it b4 n she didn't like it. So she didn't want me taking it. I was a teenager. And 1 thing I forgot 2 mention is addiction runs through my family. My grandfather was a alcoholic n addicted 2 opiates. My uncle used 2 be on weed, and meth. Now he is on pain pills 2. My mom is also addicted 2 pain pills n she has been since I was like 10.

Hey Bamagirl1990, I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are experiencing, i have also been a victim to opiates/opiods which i was taking for unexplained back pain.

I managed to get off them by swapping to a medication called Lyrica, i have also read stories of people having great success while taking Lyrica and its older weaker version Gabapentin, these drugs where originally designed to help suffers of seizures but have been found to be very helpful for many other things.

They are especially useful if you are experiencing neuro pain and if this is the case might help you quit the opiates much more easily (as they will also help reduce any pain you might have)

Now im no doctor but i have had good success on Lyrica and have read alot about it, so it might be something worth talking to your doctor about.

I hope it all goes well for you :)

The longest I've ever gone without meds is a week. I would love 2 taper off but right now I don't have nothing 2 taper off with. If I could just get down to 3 a day I would be happy. I just so depressed right now. I can't hardly put 1 foot infront of the other. I feel like a zombie

Hey Friend,
We are here for you. First of all, sounds like you relaly need the advise of a doctor. Maybe your pain can be better managed with other non narcotic meds, or other therapies.
As far as how people look at you, right now you need to focus on you, and not how others view you. When you are clean and free of this addiction you will view yourself differently, and then you will find that others view you the same. When we are not ahppy with ourselves we project it and others pick up on it. Once you are free of this they will pick up on your new mentally healthy self.

How do you plan to come off of the meds? have you ever done it before? I really think you need the advise of a professional. If you choose to do it alone it can be done, but you need a plan. Will you taper of will you jump off? Let us know more.
hugs,
Lily
