Help with Detox and Itching

I have been on Fentanyl  patches for about 6 months and it was prescribed to wean me off of Norco 10/325 2 pills 4 x  day after a surgery. I got as high as 75 mcg patch of Fentanyl every 3 days and then I developed some kind of allergy. The Pain Dr. says the allergy is to the adhesive, not the fentanyl. I am now down to 37 mcg every 2 days because the patches itch like crazy. I wake up in the morning and my patches are scratched off(even withTagederm) and there is blood on my sheets. My  Dr. suggested spraying Benadryl but there has been no difference. I am having a hard time getting below the 37 mcg but more importantly, is there anything I can do for the itching? Also, he is thinking of trying Morphine or Methadone because he says they are easier to wean off of. Any thoughts? At this point, it feels like the pain is gone and I just want to be done with this.

Hey...increase the Benadryl or ask the doctor for some Vistiril.

Uh...I wouldn't go on Methadone. That's one big bear. If the pain is gone...good!!

Yikes.....no to methadone.  Goodness, that is horrible to get off of!  Talk to him about something extended release if you still need something for pain.  BTW....opiates made me itch alot!  Like, to the point of bleeding!  I think that's pretty normal!
