Help with Fatigue- 4 Months Opiate / Benzo Free

Greetings all. I was addicted on oxycodone (30mg) daily for 4 years and clonazapam 1mg for 7 years nightly for sleep. I entered a 95 day drug rehab center in January, and proud to say I have been clean since then. No cravings. I was placed on Topomax 100 mg nightly to control PAWS (Post Acute Withdrawal) - which allows about 6 hours of sleep a night. My concern is I am extremely tired during the day. What is everyone's experience with this? How long will this fatigue last? Thanks! PS - I am active in AA/NA, and I am also a Doc, but find that my Addiction MD specialists are still learning themselves about this "new field of medicine." Most of the best info I learn are from other addicts.

yup same story.  about three weeks off of morphine and still queasy and fatigued.  I'm told it gets better.  I swear by zofran for the nausea and oddly enough gasX for the persistent stomach ache.  as for the fatigue I keep hearing that "the protocol" list on the heath page is wonderful.  I'm just too tired to go to the heath food store.  I'm still in the "in house stage"  but it is my home so I'm actually please to report that it is possible to quit narcotics without going to a clinic.  Sure would be nice if someone would do the laundry..lol  maybe next week.

I'm glad I found this site.  I value all that you guys have shared.  nice to know I'm not hte only one.

Just another comment...

My first week of stopping (percs/patches), I was back in the gym, dieting and trying to reduce the stress in my life (corporate guy).  The first 4-6 months were riddled with fatigue, some days better than others but still fatigue.  One thing I noticed was that I had energy but had to push to find it...exercise goals helped quite a bit here - cardio/strength training.

I just accepted the fact that my body was changing for the good and knew a positive outcome was at the end of the fog.

It's all good...if you don't mind, then it don't matter.

I found the amino acid L-Tyrosine helped in that aspect of everything.  500 to 2000mg before breakfast on empty stomach.  The complete amino protocol is listed in the health pages....right hand side of screen..........toward the bottom............eagle

I feel exactly the same.  I have been off my DOC for 31 days.  I am still having issues with Nausea and fatigue.  I honestly believe I could handle the fatigue if it were not for this damned nausea.  I have days where I begin to feel normal (whatever that is) and then I will have a day like today that often makes me wonder if cleanliness is all its cracked up to be....anyone still going through the nausea bit?

I have the same thing.  I have been off opiates, oxycontin, percocets for about 3 weeks now, the fatigue is overwhelming.  There has to be an answer I am searching other areas of the web for info.  I'll let you know.

I wonder about the same thing. I've been off opiates and benzo's for 27 days and am very fatigued. Do you wake up tired or get tired after activity? I have had a hard time giving a label to how I feel, But exhaustion is the closest I can come to describing it. I wake up feeling this way and don't want to get up. But the feeling gets worse if I lay there. I usually feel better at 7pm than at 7am also. Wierd.
