Help

Ok so I've been on here since 8 a.m. this morning trying to get some answers. I guess it seems the best way for me to stop taking opiates is to taper myself off of them so thats gonna be my misssion I'm not sure how to do this can any one help? Do I cut one pill a day for a week or do u cut one pill wait a few days and cut down another. I dont want to drag it on for a long time. I just want to be done, but with a household of people counting on me every day i cant go cold turkey. Any advice?

Thanks stacey its nice to hear from another mother going thru some of the same things. I will be posting my was thru this. You are so right the energy and money i spend getting them is just ridiculous. I could be paying a car note every month and be drivin a new car wich if u say it out loud is absurd. Thanks again

Also I seen this on another post it might help you better.
every 2 to 3 days cut back the dose.

day 1-2,  2 pills
day 3-4,  1 & 1/2
day 5-7,  1 (we split the one in half)
day 8-10)  3/4 ( one 1/2 and then we cut the halfs into quarters).

Sweetie I totally understand. I have a 7 year old son and a 4 year old son! Thats why I want away from this life. My husband has been through this drug seen for 5 years and never took the drugs!
But also my family depends on me to do everything also, but thank GOD I have a wonderful husband because he has taken care of them mostly with me going through detox.
I do everything here in the house basically. But I think you should do it the way you need to. I just wanted off the stuff quick. If we used as much energy getting off them as we do running them and taking them well we would all be famous!
Anyway, this is my second time around. I was on them 2 years I took 15-20 lortab 10's a day the first time. I was clean about a year and a half, then though I could just take one or two and be ok wel thats totally wrong.
If you have an addictive personality then u def. cant take any!!

This time I was on them for 5 months and took up to 7 a day. Thank GOD for my hubby because both times he did not know anything but was smart enough to bust me again! I am so thankful for him!

Yes keep coming back here it helps a lot to see others story's exspecially the ones on day 1 because you are way past that and you do not miss those detox moments! Hang in there it will all work out!

well i'm already doen to like 4 -5 a day wich is already pretty good for me b/c i've been on them for like 4 yrs already. I've quit in the past cold turkey when i got pregnant with my son, but i think alot of that was mommy instincts and not being willing to jepoardize his well being but this time its so much harder cuz i know the only ones health i'm hurting is my own now. I would like to go cold turkey but have a 3 and 6 yrs old that really need me to be able to function. So i'm at a loss. I think i'm gonna go down to 2 like u suggesteed and keep going from thre. Thanks for responding so quickly! Maybe if i keeo coming back here for support I can do it for good this time. I've tried na and its just that half my families been in aa foe yrs and i get so overwhelmed by all of sometimes plus nobody but ny hubby knows i'm suffering with this addiction and would pefer to keep it that way for my childrens sake so scared i'd loose them.

I would cut down 2 to start with. Then go from there. But if your really done with them, I would just go in full blown withdrawl mode! SERIOUSLY i think its the best way! But thats the best way for me.
I tried to tapper and would put it off and say oh well ill do it again tomorrow knowing I was in denial.
This is my second time around and I wanted to feel the pain of the withdrawl/detox because there is no other pain like it. It feels like the flu 50 times over for me but its day 5 and i even got up and danced around a little today with the radio.....
So do it how ever you feel comfortable, but I would personally start out with 2 for about 3 days then cut down 2 more. if your really serious about it do as many as you think you can.
How many do you take by the way?
AND CONGRATS WITH YOU CHOICE!

Congratulations on wanting to quit, I know how hard it is to finally decide to stop.

Although my drug is different to yours I would say that you should try and seek professional help as it will improve your chances of staying sober.

Since I started to obtain help via a support worker and help group it has open my eyes and provided me with loads of useful advice.
