Hey, I'm back! But it's not all good!

Ok, here I am.  I had done so well with my tramadol withdrawal and had made it a few weeks!  I had to have major surgery on Monday.  Long story short I was given a few days of pain pills and morphine.  After the pain subsided, I threw the pills away(trying to AVOID withdrawals!) and found myself in WD from THEM!  I haven't had any since Friday morning, and I am doing ok, but once again, I am in a place where I feel like it will never end!  It's hard to believe, but for me, my brain seems to remember WAY too well what that feeling feels like, and it likes it ALOT!  I am hoping that by tomorrow I will feel better.  I know the drill.  Insomnia, restlessness, fatigue, moodiness, shakiness, cold sweats.  I just hate it so bad.....SO BAD!  I just wish I was a "normal' person and could take as needed!  Maybe it was just too soon, but I didn't have a choice about the surgery!

Good luck to everyone fighting the fight!!!  I'm in there with ya!

Hey! Thanks.  I would think that maybe what was happening was recovery from surgery, BUT....I was not having any of those feelings until I quit the percocet! And since I have been through the wds sooooooo many times in my life, I can just tell what they are.  However, I only really had it for about 2 days.  I seem ok today.  And yesterday I went to church and did all the family-lunch stuff, and I could NEVER have done that a few weeks ago when I did the other detox!!!  Today it's more like blah than anything else.  Just no energy and no motivation, but hey, it's still early!!  And that part could certainly be post operative stuff, complicated with WD.  I am just going to ignore it and go on with my day and rest when I need to and see how it goes!

Good to hear from you.  How ya doing? : )

So glad that at least you aren't in pain. But sorry to hear that you are having a tough time getting off of the pain meds from surgery. That really stinks. I think that you won't have as tough a time as you did a few weeks ago getting off of the tramadol...especially since it was just a few days. Also, I was thinking that maybe what you are feeling isn't so much withdrawal as much as getting over having surgery and being in the hospital. Both are so hard on the body and mind, it would be easy to just blame it on withdrawal. Maybe if you look at it as recovering from surgery vs. withdrawal from the pain stuff you can psych yourself out, know what I mean? How long is the recovery from your procedure suppose to be? Try to take it easy and be easy on yourself and just let yourself heal. I know you will be fine and you can do it without too much of a tough time. Think about what you were able to get through already. And you aren't a baby...you are very strong!!

HAHAHA!  Absolutely not!  I was making fun of myself not being able to take even a little discomfort!  Hello....I'm an addict!!!  I am such a big baby!

Thanks for the info.  I do think that it is helping, but I am only taking it at night.

That could help quite a lot because it works on GABA the neurotransmitter that benzos work on.It is not addicting like the benzos but helps in withdrawals without being a benzo.
There are some situations where people have a type of withdrawal after being on it for a long time..but that is really rare
I think I was understating it when I used the word "discomfort"...I did not mean to underestimate your pain..
As I have said before...the written word often sounds much colder than I really meant.

Thank you!  The battle is back on here.  I guess a little discomfort is a little more than I want!!!!  At least I have some meds to take for it.  They are basically keeping me comfortable.

Do you know anything about Neurontin (gabapentin) for WD?

I think everything will work out fine...maybe a little discomfort but it will be fine.
But...your experience shows the love/hate feelings one has for these drugs and again points out how difficult it is for many people to stay clean It is a constant battle
My thoughts are with you and your healing from surgery

Thanks guys!  I am taking it easy.  Actually they did my surgery a new way and I am in NO pain whatsoever. Kinda tired and stuff but no pain.

It's like the meds just made my brain go YEEEEEEEEES...its back!!!  And I was so careful!  Anyway, maybe it won't last too long.  It couldn't hardly be worse than the tram withdrawal.  That WD takes forever cause of the long half life.  I hope I never see another one of those again!

Avis, my doc said kinda the same thing.  The surgery has my body in a shock right now, so the WD may "feel" worse for a day or two!  I am being very careful and staying hydrated! And my husband is a doll and so much help to me!

Happy Easter, friends!

Hey Tram~
I got your PM. Now just have a moment to say hi(until the movie starts LOL).
I'm glad that ordeal is over for you...WHEW!!   You know,I really think that it was such a brief time since being off the Tram that the MS and Percocet made a sprint to those receptors!!    Glad you tossed them and took them only as needed.  That will help you now...I hope it's over soon though.   Stay warm and cozy...you know the drill...

I missed you so get back on here like before!!!
Hugs~~Vicki

I had been off the tram for about 3 weeks??? Give or take.  And I haven't had a percocet since Friday morning.  I was definitely having some WD yesterday.  So bad that I had to call my doc on a wknd!  Today I feel better but could be because of the meds.  Maybe tomorrow will be better....day 3!

I am taking clonidine, gabapentin (for rls) and he gave me 4, .1mg klonopin (which my husband has locked up!) I wouldn't want to be in control of those right now.  I might have taken all 4 at once! : )

Oh, and I was honest with my doc and he gave me some meds to help WD this time.  Just enough for a couple of days.  Told him that I didn't want anything that was going to get me hooked ONCE again!

Hey avis!  I took Percocet for a few days, on a schedule but after 24 hours on a morphine pump!  I just woke up with it.  Didn't expect the pump, but was glad to have it at the time!  I was hurting so bad!
