How do I know?

How do I know when I'm addicted to painkillers?

I drink them for taking away pain, for making me feel better when somthing isn't right or when I'm feeling down...

And they help me to sleep...

When you take them for reasons other then what they were prescribed like "to feel better when something isn't right or when you're feeling down." What are you taking and how long have you been taking them for reasons other then the physical pain for which they were prescribed? How many do you take a day? This is a great place for help and support.Keep posting...All the best...Kim

Hi there,
            what painkillers ar you taking?

Also i think you have answered your own question by admitting you take painkillers for things other than pain.  This is how i started by taking evervescent co codamol 8/500 and have now been through every opioid and benzo known to man.

The best advice i can give is that while you are at this point try and reduce the amount you take each day , i know they feel great and are a quick pick up but inevitably they destroy you and become your being. When you become tolerant to the dosage you may take more and more or try stronger drugs.

The drugs i have taken have destroyed my health and career and killed my mum who accidently overdosed on painkillers.

PLEASE, PLEASE  try and reduce your dose and take anti inflammatories for pain , painkillers will eventually make your "down " days much much worse.

Good luck , and if you need any advice or help please e mail me as ive been going down this path for 5 years now. I hope i havnt caused any offence by maybe implying your painkiller usage may be a problem

good luck
jem xx
