How do I taper off of OxyContin and dilaudid at the same time?

I have been in 3 major accidents in the past 5 years..I was able to handle my pain pretty well until the past year...I have been upped to 40mg of OxyContin 3x a day and 8mg of dilaudid 5x a day...I'm wanting to get back to work and won't be able to do so if I don't at least cut down or close to off of them because my brain is working slower than ever because of the medicine..I tried saboxone after the 2nd surgery and coming off of that was a nightmare..worse than coming off of heroin....I'm thinking if I go off of one OxyContin a week that would be slow enough and I can lower my dilaudid's down by 4mg since I have some of those left from the hospital..I think If I do one of those a week that wouldn't be too bad. ..I know I've got a battle before me and just want to make it as smooth as possible..and would love any advice I could get from you all...thanks,.,

Hi. I tried to taper myself off of prescribed pain pills myself. Not one time was I successful. Withdrawals are an absolute hell. I have been talking suboxone for two years. I cannot longer take the pain after.many failed attempts at non narcotic pain relief. I  am 46 and will always have pain... worse with time....so I say WTF put me back on my stuff please. Now this Dr won't prescribe narcotics and I can't find one that does. My suggestion to you is to maybe lower your dose but don't go off. Car wreck will leave you with pain forever
Good luck.
