I never was on the patch, but I did kick a 1200mcg IV Fentanyl habit.
All I can say is. Ignorance is bliss!
I had no idea what wds were or what to expect. I was working in the OR as a Surgical Tech and was caught diverting. My supply was cut off CT.
I went home, and the next day I had nothing more than a little dizziness, and diarrhea. I cant guarentee that this will be the same for you, but just my personal experience.
Try not to get too caught up in the horror stories, cause at times they may make you fear something that just might not be the case for you individually.
Best of luck to you!
Henry
Talk to your doctor about the best way to get off. I would think getting off it yourself would be very difficult.
I'm so very sorry about the loss of your son. It has to be the worst thing in the world to lose a child. And you're right, the doctors that prescribe meds for no good reason should be prosecuted. They put lives at risk and they also make it difficult for patients who really need pain meds to get them.
I was on the patch for 5 years and I had a point in time where I started to detox from the patch and I was so sick, so very sick. Infact, I do not remember much about those days except I was hoping to sleep through most of it. It was horrible. Then the dr switched me to MsContin and one day I was on the patches and the next day I was off. I had NO withdrawal which I am sure is because of the switch to morphine. Good luck! If you need to talk I am here!
Hi and welcome to our community~~~~I havent experienced coming off fentanyl first hand but there are people on here who have and will be able to help. This time of night can be real slow so look around and read. The health pages have alot of good info in there.
I am so sorry about the loss of your son, so tragic.........sara
