I'm a nurse help day five of major codine withdrawal how the hell am I gunna get my energy back for a 14 hour shift Sunday
Thanks for your replies. I'm still even forcing myself to eat/drink bc I have no desire. No desire to do much of anything In fact. Every little thing is a huge task. I just want to find the old me an get that person back! Will pick up some potassium today. I was using xanex for about 9 days (1/4 of .5 mg 2x a day) so I'm really hoping this extra crappy feeling isn't from being off them for 2 days. Thanks again and happy thanksgiving!
For me sleep didn't come come back until after week 2 and the RLS subsided a little when I did start to sleep again. After week 3 it went away but my legs still felt fatigued. It wasn't until after week 4 that I started to feel like I was finally starting to heal. I noticed I was waking up with some energy (not a lot ) and able to get thru the day like a normal person and at night I could fall asleep without any aid at all. That's when it really started to hit me that life could be good again even without the pills.
By week 6 I felt so good that I thought I could manage just a few here and there and started the whole cycle again. I didn't seek any kind of aftercare so I did this routine for another 4 years before I had finally had enough.
Get through the physical part and then find some kind of help in understanding why you used/abused in the first place or you will find yourself suffering through all of this again.
At 15 days you've made farther than most do, so be proud of that, I'm proud of you for getting this far. Keep adding days and you'll start feeling human again before you know it.
First, Congratulations on 15 days! You are to the point where those symptoms should be coming to an end soon. I struggled with sleep till about day 16. I also had RLS bad. It was the biggest problem for me. The only thing that helped me with the rls was hot soaks and bananas. A potassium supp. might have the same results. As hard as it is to get up and move, it's what you need to do. Take a walk before bed, start small and work your way up. Keep positive, you are almost there!!!
