How long till withdrawel to subside

I have been on Hydrocodone 10mg and Tramadol for 3 years for chronic back pain.  The back pain is better but I have tried to quit taking pain meds several times and went into realy bad withdrawel symptoms.  One time my blood pressure spiked up to 207 and I had a TIA event (mini stroke).    I am trying it again and have been off meds this is 2nd week and I felt worse yesterday and today than ever.  Shouldn't this be getting better by now?  I have been taking gabapentin for leg jerks and restlessness.  It helps some but have really bad anxiety and insomnia.
We have a behavorial hospital here and I've talked to them about detox and they say its dangerous to do this without hospital supervision.  I don't want to go in but I really thought I'd be feeling better by now.  Can anyone give me an idea of how long before I start feeling better and what is the Thomas Recipe?

Sorry for getting back so late !  100 mils. of Hydrocodone is a pretty large dose per day . I would think the physical withdrawels should be just about done at that dose in about 5 to seven days . As for the anxiety monster that took me at 20 to 30 mils. a day about two months before they were just about nil ! Everyone is different and you may well be rid of anxiety sooner . Its one of the worst parts of withdrawels as I am sure you have read from other members on MedHelp. But they will vanish I promise ! Stay strong ... Jimmy
